Helena POV
The man sitting across from me is none other than Blanefield Hamilton, my ex-husband's uncle. I had never met him during my four years of marriage to his nephew, but I have seen him a lot of times in the news, magazines and some family photos, so it was easy to recognize him.
So was he the one who saved me? How? Why was he there? How did he find out about the kidnapping? Why did he help me? From what I know, everyone in that family hates me. I had several questions in my head, going round in circles, but he, on the other hand, was relaxed, calm and collected as he glanced through the menu.
He had some similar features to David, they both had midnight black hair, chiseled jaw, and a sharp edgy look to him which made them seem unapproachable, calculating and cold.
“I'll go with an espresso. What would you like to order?” He asked me, bringing his icy blue eyes towards me, and it jolted me back to reality. I didn't know I was staring until then.
“Uh… sorry umm… I'll have the same?” I quickly replied. I gave myself a small smile, then waved the waitress over and gave her our order.
“I'm sure you have a lot of questions…” I didn't let him finish before I started bombarding him with all the questions I had in my head.
“Did that bastard, David, send it? How come you knew about my kidnapping and also rescued me? From what I remember, you were staying abroad to handle the branch company and get more investments. You weren't supposed to be back during my kidnapping, so how did you save me?”
He was a little taken aback by how I cut him short, but he quickly went over it and placed an amused smile back on his face.
“One at a time please, I have only one mouth darling.” He joked with a careless smile on his face. The waitress came back with our order, and he took a sip before bringing his attention back to me. “But first I want to ask you, how are you doing? I was a little hurt you never called me after you left the hospital and I sent flowers to an empty room.” he pouted, he was acting in stark contrast to how I thought a man with his kind of demeanor would.
“Ah… well… let me apologize for that, it was not my intention, but I had a lot going on during that period, and it's not that I wasn't grateful but… umm…” I fumbled with my words as I tried to find the right words to say.
“It's okay, I heard.” His voice was suddenly low with a hint of understanding. “Since you never called me, I didn't know if it was okay to send you those photos and I didn't know how you'd react to seeing that, but I wanted to help out my niece.” He explained.
“So you're also the one who sent me those photos?” I exclaimed and he nodded. “Why? Why are you helping me? He's your family, isn't he?”
“But that doesn't mean he's not stupid, and I wanted to help undo the hurt he's caused, even though it's just in those small ways. I wanted you to have your life back because, just like you, I've been in a similar situation before.”
His words were calm and gentle, they carried an emotion that I couldn't decipher, but everything he was saying seemed genuine. I was at a loss for words and didn't know how to react to this.
“Thank you.” After struggling to find the right words to say to him, I just opted for the simplest and honest way I felt.
“No, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry that my nephew did that to you, my dear.” His words struck something inside me and I burst out crying right there in the Café. I didn't care if anyone saw or thought it was weird, I had just let my heart out ever since the kidnapping. I cried for my foolishness, for my baby and for the hole I felt deep in me.
Blane didn't stop me, instead he took off his suit and wrapped it around me and over my head. “Let it out, let it all out, I'm here now.” His words were eerily comforting, and I did exactly as he instructed and let out all my-grievances and cursed at my family and ex-husband.

I brought Blane to my home. There wasn't any place to sit, so we sat on the floor together. It didn't seem like he minded at all. Later, he went grocery shopping and came back with a bunch of people who brought in some kitchen appliances and furniture and helped set them up. After they were done, he made steak for us, and we ate together as we discussed more.
He told me he wasn't on the best of terms with his family and revealed to me that he's actually not the child of the current wife of his father. His mother was his father's first wife, but he never loved her and got a mistress. She was depressed after giving birth to him and the fact that everyone was taunting her about her failed marriage didn't help her and, ultimately, she committed suicide when he was ten years old.
His father married his mistress not long after her death and gave birth to my ex-husband's father, his half brother, Dane Hamilton.
For a long time now, he had known that the company would eventually be handed to his younger brother and son, so he tried twice as hard as it was his birthright wouldn't be taken away, but it was to no avail. Recently, he found out that his stepmother, Mrs Claire Hamilton, was the one who actually poisoned his mother and staged it as a suicide.
He then revealed to me that that's exactly what Rose was trying to do to me.
