Emily wiped her tears but kept looking down as she speaks. “ I’m so sorry guys, I just didn’t want to drag you into my mess that was why I kept quiet all this while.”
“ Mess? Can you please be more detailed, because I still don’t get it”. Zoe asked furiously. Emily explained all that she had been going through from mia’s gang, she started apologizing to her friends along the line. Bryan got so upset that he couldn’t utter any word as he kept staring at Emily holding a fist. His heart was totally broken because he believed Emily went too far by lying to them all these while.
After being quiet time Sarah broke the silence, “ It has all happened, let’s just stop the heat and find a solution to what is on ground”. Bryan continued, “ we can’t allow jasmine have her ways, we need to also be extra careful since we can’t predict any of their moves”. Bryan breathed heavily. “ I think I have an idea”. They gathered around and quietly made a plan, making sure Mia’s true color would be exposed. Emily wasn’t sure about the whole plan and asked again if it was going to work out. Bryan assured Emily it would be perfect.
On the day of the competition, paintings of different varieties kept flying around, students organizing and making sure their works were perfect. On the other hand was Mia who brought out a small board trying to make a design, she kept flaunting her hairs and showcasing het drawings with different lovely movements of her brush.
“ Wow she is good, now I see why she is the vice president” a girl from the crowd said admiring jasmine work with envy. Everyone’s attention was caught with the beauty of Jasmine’s art thou it was a small painting but explained a lot of things. Immediately jasmine noticed the crowd, she started to act extra with the painting and addling extra touches to places that weren’t necessary .
Emily kept starting at the whole scene happening right in her front. Millions of things kept running through Emily’s mind whether to quit or continue. Sarah looked beside her and found Emily lost in thought glaring at the hype given to mia, she tapped Zoe on her shoulder as she directed her attention towards Emily. They knew deep inside that Emily might plan to back out from he competition. “ Hey, what’s going through your mind? Do you want to set up your art or keep admiring someone else work forever. Don’t tell me you feeling scared and weak already.” Sarah teased Emily.
“ Hell no.” Emily swallowed her spit. “ This is something have always wanted, I can’t and will never back out because of Jasmine” she said in a faint voice.
“ Then let’s get to work, rather than standing” Bryan moved the table he found closer and placed the box filled with painting materials. “ Will you guys assist me or leave me to work alone.” Emily rushed to help Bryan while Sarah continued with the remaining display . As Emily started her drawings, she felt a lil bit reluctant, thinking of what she just saw now but her friends were there to ginger her spirit. An idea stroke her and head and she decided to create something different and special from what she had always drawn, using her friends as an inspiration.
On the completion of her work, she was done at the right time. She was called to the stage for her presentation, the painting made everyone puzzled and confused including the staff’s and students. They were all eager to know what inspired the drawing and what it meant.
Emily saw the look on everyone’s face and hesitated at first but built up a courage and started explaining what she created. After she was done, they gave her a very resounding applaud with a standing ovation which shocked her and also triggered some annoyance within Jasmine.
The students with the highest votes were put together and the results were announced. Luckily for Emily she came as the second runner. Her friends rushed towards her and gave her a big hug, she hugged them back and thanked them for their efforts also. She looked across Jasmine side but was given a deadly look alarming her that the worst is yet to come. As she was about to leave the hall she sighted max and he gave her a thumps up for a job weldone.
The rest of the evening was filled with joy for emily as she kept replaying everything that happened during the day.
Few weeks later, an announcement was made regarding the writing contest which Zoe and Emily had participated. They were glad to hear about the contest and planned on giving all their efforts. The two girls explained the whole situation to Sarah and Bryan as they promises to also assist them in a way they could.
The day of the submission arrived, and with it came a whirlwind of emotions. Zoe and I sat together in the library, our laptops open and our hearts racing. The final draft of our story was polished and ready, but the weight of what we were about to do felt monumental. This was more than just submitting a piece of writing; it was a declaration of our passion, our creativity, and our willingness to share our voices with the world.
“Are you ready?” Zoe asked, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, but I could see the flicker of nerves beneath the surface.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of anxiety swirling within me. “I think so. It’s just… what if people don’t like it? What if they think it’s silly?”
Zoe turned to me, her expression serious. “Remember what we talked about? This is our story, and it’s meant to be shared. We can’t control how others will react, but we can be proud of what we’ve created together.”
Her words resonated with me, and I nodded, feeling a surge of determination. “You’re right. Let’s do this.”
With a shared glance of encouragement, we clicked the “submit” button simultaneously, sending our story off into the unknown. A wave of relief washed over me, mingled with a sense of exhilaration. We had taken a leap of faith, and no matter the outcome, I felt a sense of accomplishment.
