CHAPTER EIGHT

ADRIAN WEST..... I was really mad at Sophie. I wasn't going to let her leave me for another guy, I wasn't going to let that happen. Though, I didn't know if she was telling the truth about not liking another guy, part of me knew she was lying. Sophie was a good liar, someone who could lie without any sign to show that she's lying and cause of that, got away with everything she did wrong. But I wasn't going to let her fool me this time, never!. I got out from the car and went into the house without waiting for my parents. My arm was bleeding cause of the cut Sophie gave me but I didn't mind. I went into my room, took my reading lamp and crashed it on the floor. That wasn't enough, I needed more. Using my fist, I smashed my dressing mirror before my door opened. "Adrian!", my mum screamed, entering inside my room. "Get away from me, mum!", I ordered and she moved back. "Get a grip on yourself, Adrian!", dad yelled also entering my room and I turned to look at him, staring daggers at him. He punched me hard in the face and I staggered. My lips were cut and I licked the cut, cringing at the metallic taste of the blood. "I want to get married to Sophie", I stated, calmly. "But she doesn't want you. Go and find another lady, she isn't the only lady", mum said and I shook my head. "It's her I want but I have a feeling that she likes someone else", I admitted stubbornly. "But she said she doesn't", mum pressed on. "C'mon mum, you know Sophie, we all know she's a smooth liar and will do all she can to have and protect what she wants. I don't ......". I was cut off by the buzzing sound of my phone. I picked it up and put it on speaker. "Mr West", Mr Wilson spoke from the other end. "I called to apologise for my daughter's behaviour earlier today at the restaurant". "I also acted violently so we're even". "Thank you. And also, don't worry, I'll do everything in my power to get Sophie married to you", he assured and I smirked. "Oh you better do or I'm cancelling our partnership", I answered coldly and cut the call. "Did you have to be that harsh?", mum asked and I shrugged. I picked up my phone and dialed a number. "I have a job for you", I ordered when the person picked the call. ******** NATHANIEL CARTER Cassie and I were in the kitchen preparing rice for dinner. As we worked and talked, my phone began to beep and I looked at the caller ID. It was an unknown person and I picked the call. "Hello", I said warily. "Hi, Nathaniel", the person said and my eyes widened in realisation. "I'm at the front of your restaurant, come meet me there", she ordered and cut the call. I ran out of the kitchen into the room and came out again, wearing neat clothes. "Where are you going this night?", Cassie asked and I mentally cursed myself. I had forgotten that she was in the house, my mind was to go meet The Devil so as fir her not to wait for me. "Ken wants us to meet, see ya", I said and hurriedly left. I boarded a taxi and in ten minutes, I was there. I paid the driver and ran to the restaurant. There, I saw her sitting outside on a bench. "I don't see your PA anywhere", I commented and she looked up at me without any emotion. "She went home", she replied and I nodded. "Come sit", she ordered, gesturing to the empty space beside her and I sat down like I was being controlled. I was supposed to be scared of her, Cassie told me to be scared, Ken told me to be scared but surprisingly, I wasn't. "Is that blood on your face?", I asked in concern, touching her face and she chuckled. Though it was cold and dry, I still liked it. "It's not mine", she replied, removing my hands from her face and I looked at her, confused until realisation hit me and I moved away from her on impulse as my eyes widened in fear. "Did you by any chance, kill someone today?", I asked and she looked at me. I could swear that I saw a hint of concern on her face but it was gone as soon as it came so I bet it was imagination. "Why?", she asked, taking her eyes away from mine. "If I said yes, would you run away from me?". I fell into silence since I didn't know how to answer her question. "Even if you won't like my answer, I won't lie to you. Yeah, I killed someone today", she dropped the bomb and I stood up from the seat like the chair was burning. I was expecting that answer but I was pained that she could take the life of a person and still say it without any hesitation. "But this isn't the person's blood", she continued, "I shot the person so there's no way her blood would have been on me. The blood belongs to the person whose arm I injured during a fight", she admitted and I sat down back. "But you look like someone who is coming from a party, not a fight", I stated and she nodded. "Yeah, I went to a dinner with my father. My father wants me to get married to one of his business partners son. He and I, I mean my arranged husband, started to argue which led to a fight and me injuring him. Due to the anger I felt, I went to kill someone whose death will cause an argument between my father and I", she rambled and I listened to her, taking in every piece of word she said. "Your day ended up bad", I commented but she shook her head. "No, it didn't, I got to see you", she said and I coughed. I knew she wasn't teasing me because she didn't look like it. I stood up abruptly, dusting my pants. "I've gotta go, see ya", I said and made to leave but she held my hand. "You don't know what you do to me, Nathaniel", she looked up at me as her gaze softened. I liked the way my name sounded with her voice but I knew I had to leave before I did something stupid. "My sister is waiting for me", I replied and she let go of me. I sighed in relief and ran off. ******* CASSANDRA CARTER ' something was off ', I thought to myself as I saw Nathaniel run out of the house. He will never be in a hurry to meet Ken, instead he would want to make him wait. Besides, the person who called him was an unknown caller, Ken number was stored in his phone. ' what is Nathan hiding from me? ' . All my suspicions were confirmed when Ken barged into the house like he always did. "Hi sweetie, where is Nathan?", He asked, sitting on the bed. "That's what I was about to ask you. He said you called him for the both of you to meet. Now, you're here without him? Are you two trying to play a trick on me?". "No, I didn't call him and why would I tell us to meet and still come to your house?". "Then, if you didn't, who did?", I asked confused. The door opened and Nathaniel entered into the house. His face was down and sweaty and he walked like no one was in the house. ' why is he always doing that?', I thought to myself as I watched him sit on the bed. "Nathaniel!", Ken screamed and he jumped from the bed. "You scared me", he scolded. "What the hell is wrong with you, Nathaniel? Why did you lie to me?", I queried. "I did......". "Really? You want to deny it? Nathaniel, who called you? And why did you say it was Ken?", I snapped and Ken stood beside me, also demanding for an answer. Nathan just stood, not saying anything and I was getting impatient. "Nathaniel, who called you? And why did you rush the way you did just to go meet the person?". "Fine, it was Sophie Wilson", he admitted and my eyes widened. I looked at Ken and he had the same expression as I. "She called me and said we should meet so, I rushed to her to avoid making her wait". "T-the D-D-Devil??", Ken stuttered and fell on the bed. "So, that's why you asked me about her? You two have been seeing each other, right?", I asked. "We've only seen three times, twice at the restaurant and today", he admitted and I turned to Ken. "So, you knew they've been seeing each other and you kept quiet?". "She came in as a customer and said she wants Nathaniel to be her waiter and she also gives him tips. I talked to him about it and he said she can't like someone like him and exaggerating", he confessed and I turned back to him. "So, after all my warnings, you still seeing The Devil?". "Look Cass, it's not like........". " Why? After all, I'm still the little Cassandra who knows nothing. Besides, it's your life and I don't have a say in it". " No Cass...... ". " I understand. But let me make this one thing clear to you, Sophie Wilson can never love you. So, quit your thoughts and continue to live your life. She's not worth your time and love, she isn't called The Devil for no reason. You wouldn't want to get into her dangerous world, would you? Avoid her", I stated firmly and went into the kitchen. I sat in the countertop as tears welled up in my eyes. Nathaniel was making a very big mistake and I wasn't to sit and watch my brother rotten like them. I'll do all I can to stop him from falling in love with Sophie Wilson, The Devil.
