CHAPTER THREE

Kaine was still reeling from the shock of his discovery. His mate, whom he had been searching for a very long time, was finally here, right in front of him, but she turned out to be something surprising. Suddenly a bright smile spread across his face as he asked Cheryl, ‘This is getting interesting,’ he thought, holding back the urge to go gather his mate into his arms and kiss her senseless. “You are my mate! No!” Cheryl, who was going through a sudden identity crisis, crumpled on the floor. The two dungeon wardens who had brought her in stared at the drama going on before them in shock. “Why no, are you scared of me?” Kiane asked, a sarcastic smile on his lips as he stood up from the chair he was sitting on. “You two can leave us,” he waved at the two wardens. The two of them nodded and hurried out of the room, beads of sweat rolling down from their foreheads. They prayed in their minds that the Alpha wouldn't punish them for treating their future Luna badly, remorse filling their hearts. Once Kaine saw that the dungeon wardens had left, he bent down till he was the same size as the whimpering Cheryl. “Why are you rejecting it like this?” He asked in a low tone, his slender fingers pinching her chin. He raised her head so that her teary eyes looked directly at him. Cheryl shoved him away and recoiled at an incredible speed, her eyes wide. In disgust, “You monster, you ruined my pack! And yet...” she stammered. Tears rolled down Cheryl's cheeks. She couldn't fathom how the moon goddess could be so heartless to give her a mate like this. The man who has ruined and killed her pack, the one who had destroyed her parent's legacy. A chuckle escaped Kaine’s face as he held his chest, a hurt look on his face. “You hurt me by saying this, baby; why call your beloved mate a monster?". Cheryl looked at him with wide eyes; seeing the playful look in his eyes, she knew that he was just toying with her. She gritted her teeth and glared at him. “I won't ever accept someone like you as my mate; you are an evil beast,” Cheryl scolded harshly. The more she stared at Kaine’s handsome and gloating face, the more she remembered the happy faces of the members of her pack and the bloodshed that had occurred on that very day. Kaine, who had been trying so hard to hold his temper all this while, rushed forward and held her face tightly, squeezing it in the process. Cheryl winced at the pain, her eyes red in anger. “I hate you!” She yelled, spitting at his face. Kaine let go of her face and cleaned the spit on his face, an angry look on his face. “You hate me that much? Do you want to break our bond? That's impossible, you hear me? We are stuck together, and no matter how much you hate me... you can't escape me.” … Cheryl tugged on the chain tying her tightly to the bed. Hearing the rattling sounds, she glared at the metal angrily, wishing that she could break it with her eyes. Just as she was locked in a mental battle with the piece of inanimate object. The door of the room creaked open, and she was rewarded with a tantalizing scent that she had grown familiar with over the week. “Missing me, are you?” Kaine’s cynical voice resounded in the room. Cheryl was tempted to roll her eyes at him, but she controlled herself. “Let me out of these chains,” she gritted out, glaring at him, but Kaine acted as if she wasn't speaking to him; instead, he walked to the bedside table, pouring water out of a black jug into a mug. He walked towards her and stretched out the mug towards her. “Want some? You should be tasty by now.” Cheryl glared at him, “Take that away from my sight.” She growled louder, tugging at the chain, but it just rattled and stayed there, making Cheryl wonder what sort of material it was made of. It wasn't made of the usual silver that deterred werewolves, but it was still able to hold her down without hurting her. “Don't bother to struggle, darling; you won't be able to get away anyway,” he said carelessly. Cheryl scoffed at him “For someone who is my mate and relentlessly claims to be with me, you treat me so badly, chaining me up? What sort of materials are these anyway?" Cheryl asked discreetly. She wanted to know if there was any way she would be able to break out of them. Kaine paused before he raised his brows at her. “You want to know that bad? …First of all, drink this water, and then I will tell you." He said "Sure, I was getting thirsty anyway,” Cheryl said, trying so hard not to sound desperate. Kaine smirked and walked towards her again with the mug, raising it to her mouth, but then he stopped. Cheryl's breath hitched at his puzzling actions, wondering what he was actually up to. “Nope, I've changed my mind.” He bent down till he was face to face with Cheryl; the feeling of his hot breath on her face made Cheryl's heart race, almost like she was having a heart attack. “Open up” Kaine whispered huskily; Cheryl didn't know when she opened her mouth, almost as if she were being compelled. Kaine with a smirk took a sip of the water and placed his lips directly on hers. The feel of his cold lips on hers made her fall deeper into a daze. This way, Cheryl had absentmindedly finished a whole mug of water. “Such a good girl,” Kaine cooed, ruffling her dishevelled hair. Cheryl, who has slowly come back to her senses, glared at him. “What did you do to me? How dare you use your disgusting lips on me?” She asked in anger. Kaine flashed her a smile “I'm your mate; I have every right to touch you in any way you want, and that includes kissing you, touching all your parts, and mating you till you carry my pups,” he said. “I'd rather die than bear your children,” Cheryl swore furiously. “We shall see then.”
