Cheryl weakly opened her eyes, feeling pain coursing through her body. She sat up on the bed slowly, looking around the empty room, and a tear slipped from her eyes.
She remembered what had transpired yesterday—how Kaine had wickedly and forcibly mated her even when she had refused him.
The pain coming from her neck and lower body parts was much more nerve-wracking than she expected.
Cheryl rocked herself on the bed as she cried heartbreakingly.
She was tired and didn't want to stay here anymore; the sorrow in her blue-gray eyes was so dense that it condensed into a fog, blurring the usual bright and cheerful color of her eyes.
The door of the room swung open harshly, and an angry-looking woman stalked in.
She had silky black hair and blue eyes.
Blue was a color that was usually filled with life and warmth, but on the young lady, it looked harsh and wicked.
“So you are the slut who claims to be his mate?” She asked in derision.
Cheryl, who was still in depression, raised her head with tear-stained cheeks.
“What are you doing here? Get out! Tell Kaine that I don't want to hear anything concerning him!” Cheryl wailed; her turning motion made the mark on her neck visible.
“He marked you! He f*****g marked you. you slut!" The woman screeched.
“How dare you open up your legs for him, you homewrecker! He is my man! You hear me? I am his fiancee, the one that he should have marked!” The lady screamed. Cheryl turned pale at her statement, but she gritted her teeth.
What Kaine had done last night had destroyed her dignity, but she wouldn't let an unknown woman trample on her.
“How dare you call me a slut? I am his rightful mate and your future Luna! You should accord me some respect!” Cheryl scolded.
Though she felt nauseous saying this, she still said it just to rile up the lady before her.
“Hah, you really think that you are something special? You don't know why he attacked your pack right and how he hates you guys so much! Just get this into your thick skull that he just marked you in the sour of the moment; he's going to throw you out once he is done with his revenge,” she spat.
Cheryl's mouth gaped in shock; the information she had just received was too overwhelming for her to comprehend.
She knew that Kaine had attacked her pack, but she didn't know why he did it.
The door of the room opened again, and a panting Malachi ran in; behind him was a smirking Kaine.
“What are you doing here, Thea? When did you come back?” Malachi asked, walking closer to the two of them.
On sighting the satisfied look on Thea's face and the shocked expression on Cheryl's face, he instantly knew that something had happened.
“Nothing much; I was just telling someone how insignificant she is,” Thea said cynically.
“Why did you destroy my pack?” Cheryl suddenly asked in a hoarse voice; the bite mark on her neck belonging to Kaine was shown instantly, and Malachi took a deep breath in shock.
Kaine smirked and walked towards her. “That's because I hate your pack, and I also hate you, who is a descendant of the Winters, and with my power, I will make sure that you suffer.”
Cheryl stared up at him with tear-stained eyes; the pain reflecting in them was swirling like a vortex. “Even if I'm your mate? Do you hate me that much?”
Kaine walked closer to her with a clenched fist. “I don't hate you, Cheryl; I hate your family name, so don't blame me; blame the fact that you are a Winter." He said, “I'm going to make sure I ruin you; I will tie you down with my mark and make sure you don't go anywhere; you will remain here forever, wallowing in the pain that I have cursed you with.”
All the words he spat out of his mouth hammered on her chest, causing her pain, and she didn't know when, but a tear fell from her eyes.
“I hate you,” she spat out.
Thea, who was standing at a corner, flashed a victorious smile as if she had won.
Kaine walked towards Thea and held her hands, then he raised it to his mouth and then kissed it.
“You might be my mate and the one bearing my mark, but she will be the true Luna of this pack... My pack, she is my fiancee and the one that I have chosen.”
After saying this, he held her hand, and then the both of them walked out of the room, closing the door with a loud bang.
Cheryl sank deeper into the bed, and a sob escaped from her lips.
“Stop crying, okay...” Malachi consoled; he was the only one in the room after Kaine had taken Thea away.
Cheryl looked at him with tear-stained eyes.
“I don't want to stay here anymore; can you help me leave... Please, I beg you; you are my last hope.”
…
For 3 days now, Kaine hadn't seen Cheryl, and he didn't give a f**k; he hadn't gone to see her, and he wasn't worried.
Rather, what bothered him was the fact that the Council had sent a delegate to his pack, which was due to arrive in just a day.
He was irritated by everything around him, and the fact that he had just marked his mate and hurt her the next day was affecting his wolf and him.
The door of Kaine’s office swung open, and Thea sashayed in; she was wearing a black tight dress, and in her hand was a red dress.
“Which one do you think would be okay for tomorrow?” She asked.
Kaine looked up from the pile of papers he was handling. “What are you doing here?” He asked in an irritated tone. Thea, who didn't get his mood for the moment, walked towards him and wanted to keep her hand on his neck, but the low growls that rumbled out of his throat deterred her.
“I just want to get your approval for the clothes that I would wear tomorrow when the delegate from the council arrives,” she stated, twirling around in her black dress.
"Well, you don't need to.”
“Why, I am your fiance and the future Luna of this pack,” Thea declared.
"No, you are nothing; do you believe all those things that I said... you are nothing to me?” Kaine hissed at her.
After talking, he took his coat and walked out of the office, heading to a place that he hadn't gone to for three days now.
Kaine threw the door of the room open, and what he saw chilled him to the bone.
“No!”
“No!”
“Where has she gone?”
