APRIL
My cheeks were hotter than lava from a violent volcano. He will mock me for being the innocent little virgin when he's the big bad Marine. I felt embarrassed but with this silence he won't believe my story.
"Um, yeah? Why are we even talking about this?" I questioned trying to get away from the uncomfortable subject. He's a nice boy-A handsome boy, which means girls will be falling at his feet just like his girlfriend.
"It's weird." He stopped dead in his tracks and turned around with a smug look, " Why did your answer seem like a question?" I looked down to my converse pretending to shake a leave off.
"It did not!" I fumed when I realised he was still waiting on answer, " You-You just put me on the spot! It was unexpected that's all." His lips went into a tight line but his eyes still flashed with amusement.
"Whatever you say peaches." He replied smugly as he walked on through the trees. My heart fluttered at the nickname he gave me, Peaches.
Wait! No...he's just being cocky.
Shaking my head I barged past him and stood in front of him, ready for my turn to put him on the spot. I only had two questions left but what if I asked a few at the same time?
"Why did you want to become a Marine and did you ever get shot?" His eyes bored into mine as I stared back into his beautiful ones. Something flashed across them but I could not read it and instead he walked past me following a narrow path.
"Why do you think I became a Marine?" Shocked I continued to walk behind him still aware of the darkness that embraced me.
"I think you became a Marine to fight for your country and help people." I sighed, " I also think that you became a Marine to give dedication to something that actually means something." I was surprised with my choice of words right now! Who knew I could be so mature?
"I'm surprised." His voice was full of honesty, which I respected, " Normally all I get is 'You joined to play around with guns'" he made a girly expression of someone so I naturally assumed it was a girl.
I was about to talk again but when I heard the sound of cars on the road, I almost screamed with excitement! Civilisation where have you been for the last day of my life?
Barging past Marine boy I basically ran as fast as my legs would let me to the open area. When I came to a brick wall, I threw my bag over the other side and carefully climbed not wanting to get dirty. I looked back to Marine boy and he started out into a slow jog with narrowed eyes. He always narrows his eyes and I couldn't help but think it may be a habit...or I just get in his nerves.
As I jumped off the wall I braced my knees as my converse landed in a pile of leaves. I quickly lifted my backpack and put both my arms threw as I started to climb the steep hill up to the road. I slid a few times on the leaves so I used my hands to grasp some grass using it as something to help me up. I didn't hear Marine boy behind me so I guess he hasn't got over the wall yet?
Whatever, I was way too busy to look back. Once I got to the top, I once again climbed over a small metal barricade and made my way out onto the road noticing a gas station and a motel at the other side. Both were still open making me smile in happiness. The road seemed quiet so I lifted my bag off one shoulder and opened it to find some money.
I searched and I searched and finally found some coins, however when I closed my bag they fell onto the road making me groan in frustration as I got onto my knees and started picking them up. I seen bright lights at the corner of my eyes but I wouldn't move considering I was almost done picking my coins up.
"April!" I heard Marine boy shout my name but I couldn't see, I was being blinded by bright lights.
When I finally caught a glimpse of the massive truck, I froze and went completely lifeless. It was mere seconds away and I closed my eyes considering the fact I was going to be killed by a truck. I felt tears also mix with my clouded blank vision as I felt a force of pressure hit me and knock me to the ground.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be considering the speed the guy was doing or was I dead?
"Open your eyes, I got you." I heard someone whisper with an angelic voice making me open my eyes instantly to see Blake.
We were laying at the side of the road and his warm hard body was on top of mine making me blush. One of his muscular arms was round the back of my head supporting me, while the other was moving pieces of hair from my face. He used his thumb to wipe away my hot tear making me feel all fuzzy inside.
"Blake? How did you-" I didn't get time to finish.
"Shhhh." He whispered ,"You gave me a fright." I could have sworn he pouted with a frown making me flutter again with his cuteness.
"I gave myself a bigger one I think." I shakily told him. The part that amazes me was that I just stood there and didn't move an inch. If-If I wasn't for Blake..I would have been killed.
"You sure your ok? Your not in shock or anything?" His eyes searched me carefully and I shook my head.
"Nope." I popped the 'p' ,"Thank you for saving my life Blake." I thankfully informed him and I didn't know why but I swear I could have seen a small smile before it faded.
His head went to the crook of my neck and his hot breath made my own breath hitch. His arms tightened around me forcing me to place my hands on his muscular back, not that I was moaning.
"Just don't do something like that again." He mumbled and I gasped when I felt his soft sweet lips touch the base of my neck.
I bit down on my lip biting back a moan as his hot lips still rested against my neck. My body shivered with emotions and only ne thought circled my mind.
I like him.
After the almost accident, Blake insisted that we kept walking incase anyone heard the commotion. I wasn't about to argue so I just followed quietly behind ignoring the agonising pain in my ribs.
I felt like someone was figuratively chiseling away at my bone....it was horrible.
I watched as Blake turned around every five minutes assessing me. He genuinely looked worried and even though I know I'm being silent I feel fine.
However, when I think of what might have happened if Blake wasn't there it brought tears to my eyes. I could have been left for dead at the side of the road and no one would have knew.
"What's wrong?" A demanding voice asked as I looked up to Blake. What was up with him all of a sudden?
"Nothing. I'm fine." I lied convincingly looking back into his brown orbs of darkness.
"Then why are you crying?" He raised his eyebrows and impatiently waiting for an answer but I didn't know what to say.
Why the hell was I crying? I felt stupid for not even realising it being too lost in my deep thoughts.
"I'm fine Blake. I'm just tired that's all." His head moved and scanned me from head to toe as if he was looking for something.
"Are you sure you are ok? No sore areas or bleeding?" He asked watching me intensely.
Why does he have to be so intimidating?
"My ribs are a little sore I guess." I shrugged my shoulders and instantly winced in pain. i***t.
He seemed to get really close and his chest was basically up against mine in a flash. He watched my eyes intently and I felt his fingers travel to the zip of my hoodie and pull the zip down. I didn't flinch away or anything but I did almost grasp when I felt his fingers slightly pull up the hem of my shirt.
"May I take a look?" I just nodded feeling like my voice had been stolen.
The way his cool fingers pulled my top up further had me almost moaning like a hormonal teenager, which I am but that's besides the point.
I winced and gasped when his hands touched a very sore area of my ribs. However, I did feel slightly better when my top rolled back down to my waist and my hoodie was carefully zipped back up.
"Your ribs are badly bruised." He frowned, " it must have been from when I pulled you to the ground but I guess it's better than being dead." His voice sounded harsh and I wondered what I did wrong.
"What's wrong?" I asked him trying to understand some missing information.
"Your stubborn that's what's wrong." He snapped making my eyes widen in surprise.
"I'm sorry how does me being stubborn have anything to do with what happened earlier?" His eyes seemed darker than ever and he was beginning to scare me slightly.
"If you didn't run away you wouldn't be in pain!" He shouted making me jump back. How much of a hypocritical person was he? I'm not allowed to shout incase we get caught but he can do what he wants?
Jerk.
"I didn't run away. I just walked rather quickly to civilisation! I'm not like you Blake. You may be used to being alone half the time of your life but I like people being around me so I'm not alone!" I snapped back and immediately regretted my words.
He must have missed his family and girlfriend a lot and I was lecturing him because he fights for our country. How much of a selfish person am I?
"Blake I didn't me-"
"Your a b***h. You want to be on your own? Fine." He reached in his pocket a threw my phone of the ground, " I don't like travelling with people I hate." That one word was like a knife to my heart.
"I don't know where I am." I felt my voice cracking but Blake just seemed more distant than ever.
"Find your way to the road." He shrugged his shoulders, " Try not to get hit by a car." That's when I felt the tears stream down my cheeks.
I watched as he turned his back to me once again and walked away quicker than ever. I could no longer hear his footsteps but I knew there would be morning light in less than an hour so if I could hold off then I cou-
"Hello cutie. You can come with me." I went to scream as a cloth was placed over my mouth and someone held me tightly to their chest but I couldn't.
Whatever was on the cloth was making me drowsy and it scared me how rough this guy sounded when talking.
"Inside voices. Go to sleep." I fell to my knees and blanked out completely unresponsive.
BLAKE
I can't believe how much I snapped at her. I was disgusted and all I could see was the hurt in her face when the word 'hate' slipped out of my mouth.
Do I hate her? Absolutely not.
I was just pissed that I had hurt her but then when she started assuming things I sort of lost the rail. However, an hour later and I was heading back ready to apologise.
Knowing April, she wouldn't have moved far from that very spot. Hopefully, she was at the very same place but who knows?
"April?!" I called nearing the area where I left her, "April?! I'm sorry for everything I said!" Where was she?
Pulling a tree back I realised this was the spot that an hour ago we both got into a heated argument. I looked to the ground and noticed her phone still lying there in the brown and orange leaves.
Why wouldn't she take it with her?
Picking it up I placed it back in my pocket and noticed a small piece of paper next to it. Curiously, I picked up the piece of paper and realised handwriting meaning it was a note of some sort.
It may be from April.
YOUR ALWAYS SEEM TO FAIL.
DEVICE FOR GIRL OR WE WILL KILL HER.
YOUR NOT ALWAYS A HERO LIEUTENANT.
MEET ME AT THE MAIN ROAD AT SUNSET.
ITSNT SHE JUST BEAUTIFUL WHEN SHE SLEEPS?
I MIGHT KEEP HER FOR MY VERY OWN PLEASURE.
IF YOU DON'T DELIVER OF COURSE
I felt my fists clench. What desperate man kidnaps a innocent girl such as April? It infuriated me when he mentioned she was beautiful when she sleeps, which means he's knocked her out.
I would rather kill him with my bare hands than let him take her innocence.
I was thankful however that I was given a fake device just incase something like this happened but if April comes back with a single hair harmed on her pretty little head...I will snap his neck.
