There is one word in the world that no one could describe fully and that's Mum. I mean how do you describe such a brave, strong, caring, loving and compassionate person? You could say that she is a superhero with super powers but you still couldn't describe her in full detail.
I thought long and hard and realised that my Mum is the foundation I stand on, air I breath and the rock that keeps everything together. However, when she is sitting in a chair pale, tired and unsure of what happens next, that rock crumbles away. Mum refuses to tell me which illness she has but she will always try and tell me how she's feeling about the day or days a head. Luckily doctors are saying she will eventually heal and get back to her normal self but that didn't seem any time soon.
The constant crying from members of my family has caused me not to do so well at school and my grades are dropping. No one talked to each other anymore because none of us knew what to say, even me as I was kept in the dark. The only thing I knew was that she was ill and that this illness could take her life.
I realised a couple of days ago that this whole situation is making me crumble into nothing. The happy and adventurous person I once was was disappearing and being replaced by a angry and depressed person....it wasn't me. However, I came up with a plan about running away and forgetting the troubles back home and I was actually going through with it.
As we speak I was walking down an alley way at the back of my house. It's pretty scary because I couldn't see a thing and it was pitch dark but I knew I was doing the right thing because I googled it.
I took one last look at my house and inhaled deeply. There was a lot of pain in that house right now and how I could stand it till this long I don't know.
"Get better Mum." I whispered taking one last look before walking into the forest with a torch.
I knew I would be fine as long as I found a place to stay each night at a motel and stayed out of trouble. I brought money, food and clothing along with my make up and hair brush because what girl could survive without those?
BLAKE
Great just what I wanted a stupid forest! I can't be believe how much a failure this plans turned out to be. Lieutenant Davis should have listened to me when I told him not to engage because now I am on the run from god knows who! Thankfully I still have the device because if they had it our world would never be the same again, it can blow up half it.
As I ran dodging trees my cell began to ring in my pocket...finally someone is getting in contact with me.
"Lieutenant Carter?" My sergeant.
"Here sir." I informed through the cell.
"Run south about 15 miles. We know this is a long way but its the only place where we can't break protocol. Understand?" 15 miles would be a fly by for me.
"Oorah sir." Oorah for us means anything positive. It's a marines thing, what can I say?
I put the cell in my pocket and sighed while still running. You would think I would be out of breath already but I was intensely trained for these types of situations. I can break out of handcuffs and break someone's neck within 7.8 seconds and to be fair that's pretty impressive (not that I'm boasting).
I stopped to think of the direction I was going in and saw a light hit of a big tree about three metres away. They have torches? I thought they may have got something more better like night vision goggles. Nevertheless I took guard behind a tree and held my back against it trying to be quiet as possible.
Footsteps got closer each second and so did the brightness of the torch along with humming. I knew for a fact that this wasn't one of the people chasing after me because they were being to obvious, but I couldn't take any chances.
Once the person was close enough I jumped out from the tree and kicked the torch from their hand sending it away in the distance. I couldn't see a face because they had a hood but I knew that this person could still have a gun of some sort on them. I tripped the mystery person to the ground and straddled them with my full weight holding their hands above their heads. The person shook their head and it was a girl...a beautiful one too.
APRIL
I gasped with fright. What kind of i***t jumps out on a girl and pins her to the ground? His weight was crushing me and he was still just staring at me....what a complete freak. Although he was handsome I could barely breath.
"Get...off..me!" I tried to shout gasping for air. What a complete i***t!
"Um...sure. Just please be quiet." He whispered and I looked at him with narrowed eyes. Who the hell was this guy?
"What kind of guy pounces themselves on a girl? In the woods?" I scolded as I raised to my feet. I turned my back to him and began to wipe the mud off my red converse and my black leggings. I gave off a grunt and turned around with even more shock than before.
There stood in front of me was a handsome guy but he wasn't just any handsome guy. He was a marine. He was wearing black cargo trousers, black thermal top, boots, bullet proof vest and a thin black jacket. Sweat was evident on his body and I found It hard not to look at those muscles. His hair was brown and spiked and he had beautiful brown eyes, was this fate? Wait a second he just tried to attack me.
"Your...your a marine?" I asked still in shock. He smirked and gave me a salute raising one hand to his head.
"Yes..ma'am." Did he just call me ma'am now I feel even more insulted. Who calls a 19 year old girl ma'am?
"Please...don't call me ma'am. I hate it." I snarled the last part and picked up my back pack from the ground and placed it on my shoulders once again.
"You aren't really friendly are you?" He asked with narrowed eyes making me sigh in frustration.
"I normally am but then you don't normally get a guy jumping out from a tree and trying to suffocate you." I snapped at him. How can he expect me to be fine when he has just tried to kill me?
"Well thanks to you I'm giving it three minutes before someone decides to shoot us so we need to move." He said that like it was normal as he crouched to the ground to play with a twig but I was panicking.
"First of all why would people shoot us? And secondly there is no we!" I whisper shouted at him making him stand back up with a now serious look.
"Well I'm a marine running in the middle of the woods." He smiled " I wouldn't just do that for fun and your right there is no we but I fight for my country and your in my country and if I leave you someone might shoot you and you'll bleed to death." He took a breath as I just wished the shock would go away "so I will protect you until we get out the woods....ok?" My mouth literally dropped. After telling me all that he wasn't going away and leaving me!
"Yeah well you aren't leaving me after telling me that." I told him and began to walk in the direction I was once walking. Wait, what if I go back home? I took a second to think of it and realised why I left.
"Your going west we need to go south." I heard him say behind me and began to walk in the direction he pointed in still unsure of what was happening.
It sort of freaked me out how precise he was being. Every move he was taking it with caution and everything was well thought of before he actually performed it. For a marine he seemed too professional.......is he a spy or something?
I was bummed that we had been walking for hours in a forest but I guess he's used to this sort of stuff huh?
"How much further do we need to go?" I whispered just incase he was still running from people. I didn't want to die with him.
He didn't answer making me pull a frustrated sigh. Who does he think he is? He drags me out into the middle of nowhere because he's running from someone...why couldn't I go home? Then I will run away in daylight.
"Stop the questions." I frowned was he talking to me? It wasn't that hard of a question.
"Excuse me? You basically kidnapped me and now I'm not allowed to ask questions!" I almost roared at him becoming easily annoyed at his arrogance.
"Look the less you know about me and the less I know about you the safer we will be....understand?!" He snapped stopping in his tracks. Looks like someone has their time of the month.
"You don't need to snap but when I see a stretch of road your on you own buddy." I calmly replied to hear him scoff at me. Seriously I was going to slap him now!
"You know women are all the same." He snorted," they moan and whine....just be quiet." He sneered making me even more annoyed at his childish behaviour how dare he?
"Well men are all the same...they complain and complain and their arrogance becomes them." He smirked and pointed his hand at me, while fixing his bag pack.
"You know I think that last part was aimed at me." He chuckled, " Just please stop talking and stay close." I made a face behind his back and sighed.
We walked even more and my feet were sore. At least I have my bag with my things in it...wait! My phone. My mobile is in my bag! I could use that to get someone to pick me up.
I stopped walking and kneeled on the long grass as the arrogant marine kept walking. I rummaged in my bag for my mobile, which i could feel at the very bottom and if i remember it has full charge. I have brains!
"Now I just need a signal." I said to myself holding my phone up to the sky trying to get a signal.
I turned around to see a large figure snatch the phone out of my hand and turn it off off. I froze with anger as he placed it in his pocket, which looked like a body armour attire all camouflaged.
"Give me my phone back now!" I roared making him tense but I was a strong person I could handle this Punk!
"Would you shut up!" He whisper roared," I'm trying to keep a low profile and your screaming the forest down and trying to make phone calls!" He gave me a slight push as he took his hand off my mouth. I flinched at his harshness.
"You know what keep a low profile by yourself because I'm not on the run from anyone you are....not me!" I whisper roared back and began to head in my own direction.
He was unbelievable! He ruins my plans then tells me we are on the run...from who? For all I know he could be a criminal, which is why I'm being sensible and leaving his sorry ass....when I get my phone of course.
"Give me my phone." I coldly demanded as he just stood there smirking in the long grass. He's a Jerk!
"Nope." He replied smugly popping the 'p'. He patted his pocket and I just stared at him in disbelief. He has problems! One minute he is acting like a jerk and now he's smiling, thought I was bad.
"Well I'm leaving and I need my phone....like now." I remained blank and hopefully expressionless. How can someone be so arrogant?
"You can't have it back because I'm using it." He continued to smirk as I placed my bag on my back. Why was he smirking? The big hit muscled jerk.
"What for can't afford your own cell?" I smugly replied trying to get to him but it wasn't working. I need to up my game around this jerk.
"Of course I can." He smirked and chuckled, "but the way your acting over your phone means I can use it as leverage." He began to walk again and began pointed forward to the endless trees and bushes. Where is a road? No where can be this deserted!
"Your a arrogant selfish human being!" I roared not caring where we were. I just wanted to run but he had my phone and that changed everything. I needed it incase of emergency! I'm glad he turned it off but I had to come up with a new tactic if I was going to get it back.
When he was sleeping.
"That's fine." He sighed, " But for the rest of the trip no questions and most of all keep your opinions to yourself." He sneered. Ha! I got to him....looks like I know how to push his buttons.
