Taehyung was sitting on their apartment's balcony staring at the blue clear sky. He was missing Yoongi. This was the longest time they’ve been apart from each other ever since they got together 5 years ago. But it was no ones fault he couldn’t go with him to America for an important business trip.
Yoongi asked him if he could accompany him for his one week stay but Taehyung was busy himself and couldn’t cancel his own appointments. Yoongi was an author while Taehyung was a photographer. He could still remember the day they were both sitting in their university park, dreaming about their future together. Yoongi and Taehyung met in high school. They were the perfect example of opposite attracts, but their differences didn't stop them to be good friends. They always received curious gazes because Taehyung was loud and bubbly while Yoongi was the opposite. Surprisingly tho, they compliment eachother perfectly.
When Yoongi's graduation was nearing, Taehyung cried a lot. Yoongi was a year ahead of him meaning Taehyung still had a year in Highschool left while Yoongi would go to University. Yoongi asked him to go with him to Seoul while he was on vacation so he wouldn’t be sad and alone. Luckily Taehyung's family trusted and loved Yoongi enough and let Taehyung stay with Yoongi while he was on his vacation.
At first, the two friends were not aware of the feelings they had towards each other, especially when the small circle of friends they made along the way always told them that they already acted like a couple which they both dismissed. They were still young, they knew that they loved each other and that they will do anything to make each other happy and that was enough for them.
After a year Taehyung moved to Seoul, Yoongi being on his second year. Though they've been away for a year things remained the same. They were still the same Taehyung and Yoongi.
But things changed once Yoongi found a new friend and roommate during his first year. Namjoon, Taehyung learned his name was, just like Yoongi, the boy is a musician but choose to major in literature. Whenever Namjoon and Yoongi were together, Yoongi's fondness towards the other boy was radiating.
Apparently the boy was so intelligent that he skipped a year hence him being in the same year as Yoongi even though he was Taehyung’s age. If Taehyung was jealous, he didn’t let it show. But what he didn't notice was him slowly distancing himself from the person who cared so much about him.
It’s been ten days since he’s last spoken to the boy. The days prior he successfully avoided Yoongi. He always excused himself with being busy in school every time Yoongi asked him to hang out. Yoongi missed him but Taehyung was stubborn and didn’t want to hear another story about Namjoon. So regardless of how much he missed him he avoided him.
Don't get him wrong, Taehyung wasn’t selfish or overly emotional, it’s just that he was used to being left alone ever since he was a child. His classmates used to tease him for being all over the place and how fascinated and curious he was about all the things in the world, no matter how small. That is why Taehyung was so afraid to be replaced. His insecurities grew and led him to believe everyone will leave him after some time.
And Taehyung’s feelings were always right. Every time before things could go out of hand, he was avoiding the people he met and every time they replaced him for someone better. Getting attached to people meant pain and heartache to him.
But everything changed when he bumped into a boy while bawling his eyes out. He heard the group of people he thought were his friends talking about how weird and annoying he was and how they only stayed with him because they pitied him.
When him and the person he bumped into both fell, Taehyung felt everything came crushing down onto him. He started shaking while sobbing painfully and was waiting for the person to shout at him, to tell him that he was weird, that he was stupid, that he was a freaking baby and eventually leave him alone. What he didn't expected was a warm hand soothing him, rubbing up and down his back. Instead of calming down, Taehyung cried even more until there were no tears left to cry.
He didn't know what happen but what he did know was that he was tired, so so tired, his whole being was hurting, he felt like crying allover again but he was exhausted. The stranger helped him to stand up and realized that he was in a park not outside the campus. Taehyung wanted to look around but he didn't have the courage.
It was late in the afternoon and Taehyung knew that students were almost all gone. The stranger probably left already, just pitied him and now got tired of helping a crying, broken boy, leaving Taehyung all alone.
But luckily this time, Taehyung was wrong. After a moment of silence with a gentle breeze of the late afternoon, a bottle of strawberry milk was offered to him. Taehyung couldn’t do anything else other than crying again, he didn't know where the sudden tears came from but fresh tears were flowing again. But this time they were happy tears. Taehyung loved strawberry milk and most importantly, the stranger didn't leave him but instead bought him his favorite drink.
The stranger panicked for a moment and asked Taehyung if he didn't like the strawberry milk and that he could take his water instead. Taehyung lifted his head, giving the biggest smile he could offer to the boy in front of him. Taehyung knew that he looked awful in that very moment, he was crying and smiling at the same time, there was snot in his nose and his eyes and cheeks were puffy from crying but the moment the stranger smiled genuinely back at him the tears stopped falling and his heart skipped a beat instead. Oh how beautiful the boy in front of him truly was.
A few minutes later they fell into a comfortable silence sitting so close to each other that they could feel each other's warmth while watching the sun setting in front of them.
That unexpected meeting and that painful day for Taehyung gifted him the best person he never thought he could have. The once stranger became a person he used to greet everyday when they crossed paths on the campus. The boy he discovered to be Min Yoongi was a year older than him and became a lunch partner at the campus canteen, the lunch partner became his friend and the friend became a part of his life.
Yoongi is a necessity, a big part of his every day life that makes his life shine brighter than the sun. When he told him that, Yoongi answered that Taehyung was the sun because he was always bright and happy. Taehyung then said that if he was the sun Yoongi would be the moon who gave him light when he lost its light. Yoongi snorted and told Taehyung that he was too cheesy but the smile Taehyung saw form on Yoongi’s face told him a different story.
So you couldn’t blame Taehyung for avoiding Yoongi, for fearing the worst because he had to learn the hardest way. But Yoongi was patient, he was always so patient making Taehyung feel normal, not different or too much, because Taehyung was the sun that made Yoongi's dull life brighter. Yoongi always told him that he was the sun that created the most beautiful Rainbow after every storm. Taehyung had cried when read the letter Yoongi gave him before he went back to their hometown. His last school year would be starting and he needed to finish Highschool so he could follow Yoongi to university. Taehyung knew that he needed to trust Yoongi, that he didn't have any reason to doubt their relationship because Yoongi never hurt Taehyung. He was the kindest and the most caring person Taehyung has ever met in his entire life.
