Chapter 2 : A new change

913 Words
Kornelius’s POV I saw my wife’s lifeless body lying before me, with multiple bruises and stab wounds, mostly on her neck. She was tied by her arms and legs. Duct tape covering her mouth and eyes. I shook her, hoping she would come back to life somehow. “I’m sorry. Just wake up, please. This is all my fault, I am a terrible person.” *I said in total shock* I laid her body across my thighs as I ripped off the tape covering her beautiful face. I quickly got up while her body made a thud sound on the floor. I turned on the lights, and it seemed like the power was out. I picked up my phone, searched for my daughter in the conclusion that she was dead too. I searched the whole house and I got to my wife’s room and my daughter was tucked beneath the blankets. A heavy weight lifted off my chest. *sigh* I walked closer, yanking the blanket off her, to hug her in great relief. Only for my heart to start racing again. This time more than it did. I stared at my daughter's dismembered body, yet carefully arranged back in order. I didn’t shed a single tear. I stood over her, analyzing how much of a genius this killer happened to be. I quickly grabbed a few essentials from the room, packed a getaway bag and some cash, then I left. I quickly turned around to open the door again, like I had forgotten something important. Something I will need for my future purposes. *click* *click* *click* I took pictures of my daughter's dismembered body. While picking up her foot along with me. I dashed out of the house and into my car and sped off. I couldn't let the police get to the scene. I wanted absolutely no pity. Skipping town and driving into a new city a little before dawn. Also, abandoning my car on the side of the road, even smashing my cell phone. I waited in line to check into a motel, wondering how so many people would want to check into such an ugly place. A lady brushed past me, whispering under her breath. “Aw, what’s that bad smell? Ugh?” I quickly exhaled into my palm and did a quick dab to secretly smell my arm pits. I bent down to tie my laces only for me to catch a quick whiff of my suitcase, I then realized my daughter's body had started to decompose a little, especially because it was summer and I had carried her foot along with me. It was my turn to check in, so I booked 24 nights. *The receptionist looked up and smiled* “That would be uh, 298 dollars sir, with taxes, 300,” she said. I gave her cash as she immediately gave me a key to my room, dropping it on the desk before she looked up. I had already taken it and walked away. ……. I got into my motel room, prepping for a hot bath. While unraveling my suitcase. *My stomach growled* I realized I hadn't got food, and it was too early to go out for food. *I glanced at my daughter's foot* I tried my best to keep it together, but I couldn't brush the fact away that I was mentally unstable. …..I took it to the miniature kitchen in my room, I chopped her foot into bite-sized chunks. I then boiled it without any seasoning. I left it to cook. I got into the shower and for some reason I felt at total peace. I got out of the shower, using my dead wife’s lotion that I had taken earlier. I go to the kitchen still wrapped in my towel, to check on the food. I had no idea how to tell whether it was done cooking or not. I grabbed a fork and stabbed a piece of the meat in the pot, blowing on it because it was so hot. I placed it in my mouth. I was quite hesitant, then I started chewing slowly and slowly. The thought that entered my mind made me twist. *Why did it taste so good?* I wiped that thought out of my head, “I can’t be doing this. I’m not a monster,” I said while putting a second piece into my mouth. I spat it out of my mouth really fast, while dumping the leftovers into a trash bag. My mind was filled with absolute rage. I walked towards my bed while throwing myself into it and shutting my eyes, forcing myself to sleep. Immediately I fell asleep. I saw my wife. “Kornelius, you’re a coward! How could you-” I woke up almost instantly without allowing my wife’s ghost to finish her sentence. I didn’t sleep for the rest of the day. I drowned myself in my thoughts. Why didn’t I do anything to find the killer? I realized I needed to seek justice for my family or rather vengeance. I spent most of my time plotting against the killer. I needed to find who the person was. This whole situation turned me more psychotic than I was, it messed up my brain and I will find vengeance. *I said to myself * Even if it meant I lost my mind in the whole process, I didn't mind. Then I came up with an excellent plan that’ll later ruin my life.
