Sailing Terminology as Explained by Mollie
SAILORS HAVE SOME SORT of secret language which I have a hard time understanding. To help you out, here are some common boat terms and definitions.
Starboard & Port—It would be far too easy to use “right” and “left,” so sailors say “starboard” and “port” instead. Sheesh. I've got enough problems telling my right from my left as it is.
