I DECIDED TO WALK INTO town to drop off the compass and pick up the pizza rather than drive. I needed to work off some of the chocolate-related calories I had accumulated so that I could replace them with pizza calories. Sandy had told me about a path that ran through a wooded area along the beach and ended up behind Penelope’s Sugar Shack. As I trudged along the path, wishing I had worn sneakers instead of flip-flops, I heard arguing on the beach. I couldn’t see who it was through the brush, but one of the voices sounded familiar.
