Regina’s POV
“So, what’s the update?” I asked Avery. She just raised an eyebrow at me and continued preparing our lunch. I am here at her place since she didn’t pick up my call last night. She is avoiding the topic.
“Oh, come on. Anyone who got your attention? The guy in the food stall or the later one in the clothing store?” I asked but still no response.
“Regina, I won’t be able to just choose anyone. Like you want me to grab a guy and say, ‘Hey let’s go on a date, be my boyfriend, and so on.” She quoted and rolled her eyes at me.
“Then how and when will you have a boyfriend then?” I asked and picked up a glass to pour some orange juice.
“I am not in a hurry.” Unbelievably that sentence spits out of her mouth.
“What the F! Avery. You must have seen yourself whenever I talk about me and my boyfriend. You’re too jealous, remember?” I said reminding her of the times when we talked and she would wonder why she hadn’t got a boyfriend. Sometimes, I really want to kill this b*tch.
“Uhm, yeah. I am jealous of you, how the hell could you just pull off a man so easily?” She started. I know she’s being real now.
“Like not just a man Reg, a handsome, rich man,” she said and sat down in front of me as we ate our lunch together.
“Oh, come on, that’s why I am telling you to start flirting out,” I told her straight to her face.
“I have no skills for that. I couldn’t pull a guy easily.” She said bowing down and playing with her food.
“Okay.” I started and put down everything in my hand, held it together, and looked at her.
“What are you looking for in a guy? What’s your ideal boyfriend?” I asked her seriously. This lady really needs my f*cking help.
“I just want it simple. Just someone who loves me more than I could love him.” She responded.
“Then explore.” I simply suggested making her look at me in confusion or disbelief.
“You won’t know who is serious if you won’t try,” I responded while pointing at her with my fork. She remained silent.
“I mean, I want you to be happy, Avery. I want to see my best friend being loved and in love.” I said and she smiled bitterly.
“So, go out. Unleash your flirting skills.” I spoke.
“Okay.” She responded so I grabbed her phone that was on the table. She tried to take it back but I just wanted to help her. She won’t go out; she doesn’t even go to pubs or anywhere. She needs a little more push.
“First, let’s subscribe you on a dating site,” I said.
“What the…” she said and her eyes grew big at the thought as I managed to register her on a dating site I use. After that, I gave back her phone and she stared at it.
“Start looking for a guy nearby. You must not worry about it. Love is a trial and error too. Don’t give up You’ll find someone too.” I said and winked at her.
“And you’ll be the next one to tell me hot detailed stories. That’s so exciting!” I said clapping and flashing a huge smile. She threw me the box of tissue paper. This b***h isn’t showing her wild side yet, but I am here to unleash that. She’ll show it off.
“Oh, before I forget, I have to tell you this. Remember the last time, I and Ricky went on a date?” I started and she just nodded.
“We went out of town. He prepared a romantic date for me. He brought me to a La Villa Resort. He blindfolded me.” I continued while she munched on her food.
“I was expecting him to bring me inside the bedroom and tie me down to f*ck me.” I giggled with that dirty thought of mine. Avery shook her head but still paid attention.
“But he gently led me to a table and pulled a chair for me. We had a fancy dinner with a view of the ocean. He’s so sweet, romantic, and delicious.” I continued. I can see her eyes filling with envy. I must say she’s wondering again when she will experience this so I continued.
“And the best part is, of course, happened after that romantic dinner,” I said and smiled playfully. I was about to tell her every detail of my hot date with Ricky when I was cut off by a phone ring. Avery stared at her phone ringing.
“Why don’t you pick it?” I asked.
“It’s an unknown number.” She responded and let it stop ringing. I nodded and stood up to help her do the dishes. Of course, I had to help her since I was the one who bothered her peace at home.
Avery’s POV
We finished our lunch and I sat there watching my best friend do the dishes for me when my phone rang again with the same number.
“Why don’t you pick it up?” Regina asked me as I blankly stared at my phone.
“It’s making me anxious,” I responded, staring at my phone until it stopped. It was truly making me anxious when my phone rang with unknown numbers. Like whoever they are, why don’t they just at least leave a message before even calling?
“Do you have any plans for tomorrow?” Regina asked as she wiped her hands with the towel and walked towards me. We both stood up and proceeded to the living room.
“I’ll be working on some stuff at work,” I responded as I turned on the multiplayer I bought for my CDs.
(Song playing: Connected by Bangchan)
“I mean, after work. I’ll be glad to pick you up since I’ll be having a bang in a pub nearby.” Regina offered but I shook my head to refuse. I received a message from the same number who called a while ago. I stared at it for a few seconds before getting startled by the phone ring. Regina was also startled and was looking at me as I stood up to pick it up.
“Yes, I’m sorry. I was busy a while back.” I lied and looked at Regina who grinned at me as I listened to the person on the phone.
“Uhm. Yeah?” I paused as I looked back at Regina who was busy on her phone. My mind wandered for a few minutes before I responded.
“Oh, I see. No worries but I’m busy.” At last, I responded biting my nails and looking outside.
“Yeah. Bye.” And I hung up. I took a deep breath before going back to the living room. I wonder how the hell he was able to get my number. I shook my head and cleared my mind. I am not interested in playing around.
“Who was it?” Regina asked.
“Nothing.” I simply answered. She nodded even if she didn’t really believe me.
“Oh, by the way, I have to go. I have to meet someone.” Regina said and stood up.
“Who?” I asked curiously.
She looked at me in the eye and responded. “Nothing.” Then she smiled and left the house.
