PURE BLOODS

Episode 5

Before anyone could understand what was happening, arrows rained down on them by the hundreds of thousands. They came from nowhere, hidden archers firing all at once. The singing turned instantly to screams. Mothers threw themselves over their children to shield them. Witches raised shields of magic and tried to push the arrows away — but there was too many, and no spell could hold back that storm. Most fell where they stood. Only a handful escaped into the dark.

It became clear later: humanity had decided there would be no rivals, no equals, no one who could ever challenge them — not the Devil's Children, and not the witches either. One survivor fled carrying the God-Sword, forged from the blood of a hundred witches. It could not be destroyed, so she hid it deep where no one would ever find it. And with that single act of cruelty, a deep and lasting resentment was born between humanity and all who walked the path of magic.

With no common enemy left to hold them together, the human nations turned on one another. Alliances broke, old rivalries flared up, and a great devastating war swept across the land. Kingdoms burned, cities fell, and nothing was spared. In their fury, they did not only destroy each other — they tore down temples, burned records, and erased every trace of the history that had come before them. They wiped the slate clean, so that nothing of the old world remained.

Centuries rolled by. Civilisations rose and fell, and new ones took their place. The world changed. Cities grew, technology advanced, and life moved forward. But the past did not move forward — it was buried. Modern humanity walked into the future knowing nothing of magic, nothing of witches, nothing of the Devil's Children, and nothing of the great betrayal that had cost so many their lives. All of it was gone — a story swallowed by time, as though it had never happened at all.

Yet the bloodlines remained. The sword waited hidden in the dark. And the truth slept — not dead, only sleeping, until the day it would be woken again.
