The cease fire was some of the best days of Alina's life. She and Alexander, she called him Xander or Xan most of the time, spent every moment they could together. He still had training and patrols to do, but beyond that they couldn't be separated. One afternoon they took a walk through the woods on their own side of the battle line. Hand in hand, enjoying the peace of the forest. "Alina," Alexander said softly. "Yes?" "You need to know something," he said quietly, but urgently. "Go on," she urged, giving his hand a squeeze. He stopped and turned to face her, his hands on her shoulders. He looked into her eyes with the softest, most loving look she'd ever experienced. "I love you Alina, I love you with my entire being." Her breath caught and her stomach exploded in butterflies.
