THE REGRET

to bed, bathing was the last thing on her mind. It was 10am when she woke up to a sweet aroma, she's not the cooking type, she makes just simple and easy food, she left her room, her class was by 2pm so she wasn't bothered. When she got to the kitchen, she was shocked, she wasn't expecting who she saw. She smiled brightly and gave her 'uninvited' guest a back hug. Her guest turned her around, hugged her fully and apologized for coming without being invited, Karen was happy for the presence, she needed it. They ate in silence, they have a lot to discuss, she knows this person wasn't here for mere visiting sake, there's always a reason for coming. "Why are you here mom" she asked with her mouth full Her mom told her she sensed she'd be going through a lot, mothers instinct dragged her down to make sure her daughter is OK, she smiled after explaining how she got in with the spare given to her when she was newly admitted in school. They finished breakfast and sat facing each other, she told her mom her plans of breaking up with her boyfriend, he's being difficult, she said. Her mom told her what to do after she was done explaining the root of the problem, Karen saw her mom off later on, not after promising to always come home when she's going through a lot. She planned to pay her man a visit after her classes, her mom's plans better work, she went to school got busy in activities. Going to her man's house feels like pushing herself to him, he hasn't called her since their last fight. She came in but didn't see his car, that's strange, he should be back from work by now, she thought, she went straight in but stopped at what she saw; wig on the floor, clothes scattered everywhere. Her eyes were moist, she blinked rapidly and the tears flowed freely, she couldn't believe he could do this to her, she heard the soft moans coming from the room but didn't have the courage to go in, she turned quietly and left his sitting room, his compound and sadly, his life. Karen went to her parents house, met her mom outside and hugged her tightly crying her eyes out, her mom held her close and whispered soft tunes to her, she went quiet and let go of her mom. She explained what she saw when she went to apologize for trying to go through his phone like she advised, her mom was disappointed and encouraged she let him be. Days turned to weeks and she wasn't taking his calls, she relocated, she had just 1 year to complete her degree. Michael had gone through their mutual friends but none was willing to give her address out, he was frustrated, he just wanted to explain what she saw on that day, he knew she came to visit him, he saw
