She woke the next morning easily but did not feel rested. She was still drained. Pearl had made her perform more blood rituals yesterday than she ever had before. She could only imagine it might take at least a week before she was back to full strength. It also meant that Julian would not let me out of his sight until that happened.
As she thought about him, he stirred behind her. He reached his hands around her waist and pulled her tighter to him.
‘Hmmm.’ He moaned into her neck. ‘Good morning, Luna.’
‘Good morning.’ She tried to roll over, but he wouldn’t let her.
‘Nope.’ She tried to wriggle out of his arms and laughed as he just held tighter. But for now, she didn’t have the strength, so she just relaxed into him. ‘See, it’s so much better if you don’t fight me.’
