CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

¿ACCEPT? ¿REJECT? CHAPTER EIGHTTEEN CARMINE POV I took off in a Run, Thankfully it's not that far to the main house so I am there quickly. Walking in the door the sight I see isn’t a lot different to the one from earlier. With Gabriel, then he turned to look at me, it isn't Gabriel in control, it’s Grunt, well now we have a whole new set of rules to play by. “Grunt! Leave her!” I said sternly, I don't want to trigger him. I need to de-escalate the situation then I need to see what the hell is going on with these two. Then Grunt turned a little more to look at me, his demeanour settling a small grin extends his hand to Missy and thankfully she took it. I will let her know that he doesn't want to her. Making our way to the dining room and sitting down ready for the staff to bring our meals. Gabe hardly took his eyes off of Missy. He asked questions, of which of course she really didn't have very many answers for him but she did giggle at his repeated attempts, in turn he was smiling and he even managed to chuckle too. We finished our meal and our conversations continued with Gabe relaxing enough he managed to return to his room to get something he wanted to show Missy. He ran off like a young pup. “I'm so sorry Missy I only went to the Guesthouse to get my things. I thought he was in his room.” I said to her. Her smile grew before she laughed and said “it's okay , he just startled me, his eyes were different, so was his voice, he grabbed my arm and pulled me toward him, he did make some odd noises, but he didn’t hurt me. I'm sorry I screamed.” Her cheeks taking on a pink tinge. I smiled, glad that she was more comfortable, but I still had to find out what was going on with Gabriel. “Missy, if you would like to go out in the garden, I will have a word with Gabriel, then we could all go for a walk to the lake, I am sure Gabe would like that idea, because he loves the lake, has ever since we were pups." I said smiling at her. She nodded eagerly and stood to head outside, she looked very sweet today, she was wearing a sundress in blue tones. Daphne and Missy have become friends and Daphne has been helping out taking her to get clothes and personal items, once she was strong enough. Today, aside from her earlier scare, she is relaxed and happy it seems. Thankfully her pain has subsided somewhat, Daphne said that there was one night that she felt immense pain, and it seems her mate bond was writhing, letting us all know her bastard of a mate is fooling around still. When I find out who the hell is responsible for her, and who her mate is, I may just rip him apart. I know at the next Alpha meeting I get dragged along to, I will make sure this is on the list of discussion topics, Ranked and Titled wolves should know better, and should respect their mate and the Moon Goddess' blessings. Once Missy left, I made my way to Gabriel's room, knocking although he probably can’t hear me with the amount of noise coming from inside the room. “Gabe!” I called, while banging on his door. “Gabe! Let me in, we need to talk about Missy,” I finished my words and just as I did, it went dead silent inside the room, then the door swung open, Gabe stood in the doorway, looking dark and ominous. “What about her?!” he asked, his question more the statement than the question. “Well, first brother, can we talk inside?” He stepped back and let me past. The door closes and I turn to look at my brother, now feeling a little concerned. He is completely strung out. “Gabe, what’s wrong man? You look dishevelled and messy, and like you are on Bane's Blood.” I said, his eyes going wide, “I am not!!!!” he was quick to respond, so I know I have his full attention. “Okay, okay, now, Missy!” I began, and he looked like a pup hanging on every word about her, he is behaving very peculiarly. “She hasn't been here long, she is still getting the lay of things, she is in no danger here and you should know that. With her having amnesia we need to help her remember if she can, but not by forcing her, just work at her pace, do you think you can do that?” I asked, watching him pointedly. “Yes!” a short word followed by a vigorous nodding of his head. “Right, so now, tell me what is going on, twice I have found you with your hands on her in a threatening position, what is going through your head?” I asked, pausing waiting for him to reply. His face was stricken with worry, realising exactly what had happened earlier. “Oh! Fuk, I need to apologise.” Gabe said the worry coursing across his face now. “Right, but first Gabe we need to make sure that Grunt is going to behave also, he seems to want to protect her, which is great, but you need to calm down.” I can’t be worried if I am not around that I will have to return to find her in a compromised position again.” I said to him, earnest in my voice I hope he hears. “Grunt, can you do that?” I asked, waiting for the bloody stubborn Lycan to open his mouth and confirm he is going to play nice. Before I knew it, I had Grunts, promise to behave, which left me in a better position, feeling more comfortable to ask my next question. “Gabe/Grunt, why have you been the way you have with her, is there something you are feeling that she is putting out and I am missing?” My question lingered in the air a little when Grunt answered. “I want to be with her!” I gasped, sucking in a huge lung full of air as I did so, “But she has a mate, Gabe, you can't." My exclamation possibly sounding less like support and more like a statement. “I know, that is what is making it hard for Grunt, we respect the mate bond, but we don’t like what her Alpha is doing to her.” He pleaded with me, his eyes full of hope that I will understand. I do understand, that is the problem, I feel the same way, I'm not sure what that is about, but I do. I first put it down to my desire to protect her, to nurture her keep her safe, but as the few days have gone on, I have also felt something more. “For now, we need to keep her safe. As Lycan’s and future Kings we owe it to this she-wolf to keep her safe, respect the Moon Goddess knows what she is doing, although I feel she should know how Lycan's work better than anyone. We are more possessive, less accepting of excuses, and under no circumstances do we act on our feelings, understood?” Gabe agreed, his head nodding.
