CHAPTER TWELVE
CARMINE POV
It's been good to have Missy stay here, it's given me a chance to speak with her, to help her work out what she likes and dislikes, I continue to get lost in my thoughts.
Alexander knocked on my office door, snapping me back to him, “Sire, do you have a moment?” he asked, then awaited my reply. I waved him in, he took a seat in front of my desk.
“I have booked an appointment with, Lance Crane, Future Alpha of the Moon Winder Pack, he was rather insistent, so I booked him in for Friday at eleven AM. I'm not sure what he wants but he had some urgency.” Alexander stated.
I nodded as he explained a few things from his conversation. I felt like there was more but he seemed not to be inclined to add any further information.
“Following the situation we had earlier this week I think we should keep the guard numbers up in the Palace and grounds.” I say to Alexander who is the guard in charge of scheduling and rostering.
He nodded in agreeance before looking at his watch, standing and excusing himself so that he would not be late for guard duties.
After the peculiar meeting with Alexander although that’s not really fair to say that, the guy has like five alter ego's and a range of skills that come in very handy.
I only have two Duo shifters in my guard lines and that’s bad enough, its like dealing with hormonal teenagers. Besides their own personalities they can mimic those around them, and that can be a challenge if emotions are running hot.
Thursday wont take long to get here so I should finish outstanding tasks, and then I can perhaps do some research into this Lance. I remember the name, he was the guy at school that was always surrounded by she-wolves, a different one each night and for some reason the dorm masters would look the other way. I'm sure he isn't that notable.
Glancing out the window I notice that it was not almost dawn, the sun just taking the crest of the horizon, I have been looking through books, records, papers, all sorts, it seems, Lance has involvement in some questionable things. Some things I might need to look into, once I see what he wants when he gets here tomorrow.
With that thought I returned to my room showered and proceeded to go find Missy, I wanted to have breakfast with her, see if she has remembered anything.
As I was about to start up the stairs, but halted in my tracks before I could take a step. Missy was already part way down, humming as she moved, the sun dress she has on flowing airily, complimenting her natural heir and beauty that she has.
“Good Morning Missy, you look lovely, actually I think beautiful and graceful is a better description,” I say holding my hand out for her to take.
Her smile has such natural beauty to it, her giggle helping her aura shine. “Hello Carmine, thankyou, I think this would be the nicest day today, are you joining us for breakfast?” her voice is so melodic.
“I thought I would, then perhaps we can take a walk and we can work out what you might like to do today, I plan to spend the day with you, I can show you around and I can take you somewhere for lunch.” I smiled.
Following a nice breakfast, I invited Missy for a stroll through the gardens, she jumped at the chance, taking seconds to scramble from her seat and grab hold of my arm. Honestly I don’t think I've ever seen someone more so quickly.
Deciding to have morning tea in the orchard. I mind-linked the kitchen staff to have them bring things out here.
Missy's face lit up when she saw all the fruit that was being harvested and prepared for the wolves of our pack.
“So the Lycan Kingd....” her words broke off as a gut wrenching scream came from her, she dropped to the ground, grasping at her stomach then her head, it seemed her whole body is in pain to bearable or to get rid of it altogether.
With Missy now tucked safely in her bed with a nurse monitoring her and to keep her sedated.
At my suggestion Doctor Daphne, prepared enough syringes to keep her sedated until morning. With our day now halted very abruptly and left me with at least some of the day until I return to see her.
Keeping my thoughts off of the she-wolf in the room upstairs and how much pain she appears to be in.
I have to agree with Daphne's thoughts, that Missy has a mate, and for some reason he isn't missing her? What would be so wrong for him to refuse to accept or reject her, it wouldn’t matter at this time.
Knowing that there is a wolf out there that would prefer to cause pain each time he plays around. Attempting to clear my head I looked toward the hallway at which the far end sat my office.
My decision clear when I made my way to inspect the Pack lists of newly mated and recorded not mated wolves, see if any match Missy.
Hours! Literally hours it took me to get through all the papers submitted following the Pack Runs.
Thumping my desk I rise and begin to pace around my office. How could someone allow an acceptance just to play with emotions.
With my temper at the high I haven't seen for a while I needed to run. With that I left and went for a run into the woods.
I was called back to the hospital when Daphne mind-linked and requested I meet with her at the hospital.
Half an hour later I was at the hospital, Daphne had some doses of the medications prepared for Missy.
“I'm quite sure that Miss Missy is suffering from an incomplete mate acceptance. I am unable to do much aside from these injections, however you may wish to speak with the Palace Mage, or failing that, maybe a witch?” Daphne said.
With that I took the medications from Daphne, gave her a smile and left to check on Missy.
I am still baffled, as to how this she-wolf can be treated like she has been, beaten to the point of amnesia, and then dumped, how could someone do such things. I am sure that with what Daphne said about the one responsible is of a ranked wolf, they would know all the things that they are doing to her.
I'm not exactly sure how I am going to work out who it is, but when I do they will know the right and wrong way to address a mate. I won’t let them continue to cause her pain when I find them.
Although I may not be opposed to causing them some pain of their own.
