¿ACCEPT? ¿REJECT? CHAPTER SIX CARMINE POV Stumbling along the side of the road looking for what we thought we saw over the verge, off into the fields a little. I couldn’t ask her who did this to her, her eyes were swollen shut, her lips split, dry and bleeding. I wouldn’t leave her out here, this is disgusting and when I find out who did this I will punish them. Once I got her in the car I had Alistair my driver to make his way to the hospital. Rushing her inside once we arrived, the medical team I had mind-linked when we got closer, were doing everything to make her feel comfortable. You could have heard a pin drop in the room when I took responsibilities for this she-wolf. Until I know who this she-wolf is, I am not about to desert her now that she is here safe, but without knowing who or where she is from I wont be able to find out who did this, and if they are going to come looking for her. I surely don’t want to abandon her now, she was quite a way from our pack borders, so maybe she managed to stagger to where we found her. I will put enquiries out to the surrounding packs, she doesn't seem like she is a rogue, she doesn't smell like a rogue. I know she is not from our pack, our pack is quite central to all the packs managed by the Lycan Kingdom. We usually don’t get visitors from the packs aside from the ranked Warriors, hierarchy and dignitaries, anyone else would usually apply for visitation permits. The nursing staff have been buzzing around for the last hour, since I told them I can feel her wolf stirring her wolf is groggy. I suspect they were dosed with Wolfsbane and that would be why its taken so long for her wolf to wake. When all the nursing staff had finished their bits and pieces I moved my chair closer to the bed picking up her hand and I began chatting to her, I was noticing the swelling and damage to her face beginning to mend itself, now I know her wolf is feeling much better. It still took a couple of hours before her own consciousness began to rouse. The wave of relief that washed over me was almost overwhelming. I am so grateful she is waking, her colour looks better and she seems to be gaining some strength back. My Lycan is communicating with her wolf, but her wolf is still a bit vague too, but until they are both awake and we can find some things out, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Anger rising the more my Lycan, Kane finds out from her wolf. Her wolf doesn’t know her name nor her humans, whatever happened did a number on both parts of her. All she could tell us is that they were having a conversation with some she-wolves, but then she couldn’t remember anything after that. I can’t believe someone could actually do this on purpose, maybe she was in an accident, hit by a vehicle, or perhaps she was attacked by rogues, there are still a few Feral ones around, they don’t have any respect for anyone but themselves. I wouldn’t put something like this past a rogue. I need to find out what happened, if someone did this to her I will make them pay. The room fills with the sound of my growl, I didn’t realise I was pacing and growling with anger. Brewing over all the possible things that could have happened, anything I learned from her wolf I need to keep my temper in check, she doesn't need my stroppy ass giving her a hard time, she is the victim! I take the seat next to her bed again, absentmindedly picking up her hand to hold while i war with my thoughts. Deep in thought about what I would say or do to the ones who did this, I notice her heartbeat changing and looking up I meet her eyes as they flicker open, showing me the most deep brown of them, but they also appear to have a gold spark in them. Quickly blinking myself back to the reality before me, I mind-link the doctor that she has woken up, I stood and moved to the side of her bed, taking a seat on the edge to speak with her. By sitting here she can see me easier, she is still injured, and one eye is still going to take a bit before it is more than just a slit. “Hi, I'm Carmine, I found you out near our borders and as you are injured I bought you to the hospital, my medical staff are very good,” I started, her gaze like that of a frightened cat. I couldn't help but smile, when her body visibly relaxed. “Do you have any idea what happened to you? Who did this to you?” I asked keeping concerned but soothing relaxed tone trying to portray that she is safe and I want to help. I watched her trying to think back through the trauma she has endured. “I'm sorry but no I don't it's all just a blur right now.” Her response sad and defeated, her face giving away the pain she was feeling. “For now, just worry yourself about healing, your wolf is alert and active again, so she will now help heal you , so take the time to do just that. We can see if your memory gets any better after that.” Still trying to ease her concerns, reassure her, letting her know I will help her. Ensuring that there were guards posted around the entrance to the ward and outside her room, I will make sure no one can bother her at the moment, she can just heal in peace. I would say that a few more hours and she will look and feel much more like herself, maybe still with some aches and pains from fractures healing, but better none the less. “Do you remember your name? Your wolf’s name?" her face now looking concerned again, with a small furrow developing between her brows and she tried to think, her tears gave me the answer, her face now ashen in colour, tears streaking down the cheeks that I really want to wipe away. As I think it, she raises her hand to her face wiping the tears, then shaking her head, “N..... n...... n..... no, I don't." Tears refilling her beautiful eyes. Her face now shining a little with a smile, well the best effort of a smile, she seems so innocent. Looking up at me, now all cleaned up her long lashes hiding some of her beautiful eye colour but her eyes were locked on my face. “Thank you, as soon as I am able to get up and move around I will get out of your hair, when I work out who I am I will pay you back for the care and.....” I cut her off, raising my hands, palms facing her, “wait, wait, wait, you don’t have to go anywhere, I welcome you to stay, we can reach out to the packs and see if we can look at trying to find out where you are from and get you home if that is what you want.” I can see she would like to argue some more, but she is tiring quickly, I need to make sure she knows that she is welcome to stay, she is my guest. Wincing, she attempted to put a smile on her pretty, innocent face. I picked up her hand again and gave it a gentle squeeze to reassure her “you are NO problem at all, and as my guest, no one will question you or me. Please stay here at least until I return.” I looked gently toward her, and she returned my question with a small nod of her head. Relieved I chatted for a short while longer then left to see if I can find out more. My Lycan is suddenly protective of the stray she-wolf. I know she is not my mate, my mate died before we even got to know each other.
