Monday came around quickly; we had to take two cars to college. I wish I had thought about the journey and got Leo to drop me off before we made it there. When we pulled up everyone was looking over, whispering to each other. I felt like I was in school again. I wasn’t sure how to feel with the attention on me. I didn’t have my hoodie on which I always used to shield me. Betty put her arm through mine ignoring everyone around us keeping her head high. The guys fanning out behind us.
The whispers didn’t stop, the only
difference about today and school, was I had people on my side. I still wanted
to curl up in a corner and hide. I felt my shoulders curling in on themselves,
when I felt Betty let go of my arm. A hand replacing it, Leo’s hand in mine.
