The moon was dripping blood as the night mist cleared at midnight. We quietly and solemnly walked through the forest, heading for the meeting point. The witches were waiting by the Dark Lake. We were stepping carefully. This was enemy territory and this place was used for dark magic.
The ritual itself was dark magic. This is what it had come to. We needed the darkness to get rid of darkness.
When we reached the lake, the witches had already prepared the ritual shrine. Candles lit the place and made everything else disappear. The lake wasn’t even visible anymore. We greeted them in silence by bowing our heads and awaited their instructions.
