The car drops me off at school, and I enter the building, heading straight to the section where we take exams. With two hours to go, most seniors are either chatting and playing around or cramming with their noses buried in textbooks. I spot Jenna among her usual crowd of girls. Somehow, as if sensing me, she turns around just as my gaze eyes her. Yesterday was supposed to be our first time together. She’d specifically asked to come over to my place, to have “fun.” I tried to put her off, saying maybe today, after the last exam, would be a good time. But she insisted, and I finally agreed, hoping she might help get Hazel out of my mind, even if just a little. The sooner, the better.
