The New Member

Reina  knocked on her cousin's  door as she held  David close to her chest she was nervous . 

"Am coming ...please hold on " came her cousin's  voice opening the door  sofia gasped, her cousin  was never the visiting type so what was she doing here. 

" omg!.. Rains I haven't  seen you in forever  ...wow come on i-" she stopped  as she  the baby her cousin was carrying  in her arms . How could this be, had she be pregnant  and nobody knew  ..Sofia  wondered 

Reina entered  into her cousin and made her self comfortable  on the couch she still the feeder the nurse had given her incase he woke before  she got home. Placing the baby on the couch she placed her hand on her temple  as the stress and lack of food was beginning  to tell on her . 

" So you wanna explain  " her cousin asked  her gesturing  to  the baby and she sighed taking a glance at the sleeping infant . 

" I found him ...in a dumpster  "  Sofia gasped immediately  after she spoke . Who could do such a  thing ..this baby was so innocent  and pure and then someone  had the nerve to dump in the trash. 

" when ! Where ! ... who would do such a thing " sofia asked simultaneously , she had about babies  been thrown away never had she thought she would be see one lying on her couch. 

" I don't know  Sofia , i was taking out the trash last night at restaurant  ....when i found  him , i was so scared didn't  know what to do ...so I  just picked him up " . she breathed as that  had came  out more composed than she had thought . Her cousin sat there bewilderment  ,  she had never pictured Reina to be someone  who could carry a baby let alone look after one. 

" But have you tried talking to the cops about it ..."  she asked handling Reina  a glass of water as she had requested for . 

" yes , I did and apparently they thought  I  was  the  mother at first but after series of inquiries  and a DNA test ...i was ruled out" 

" You mean to say they thought  you were  its mother  ...", Sofia  asked  not  believing  what she had just heard her cousin say . 

" that's  was what  they thought at first ...but after the DNA which took about four hours  to complete   I  was ruled out as his parents , " 

She went on to tell her cousin the ordeal of the police station and how she became  the temporary  guardian. Even her couldn't  understand  why she had chosen to be the kid's permanent guardian if he's parents were found ...well for a child who wasn't  registered there was no way they were gonna find his parents, she knew it that David was gonna  be staying  with her for a long long time . 

"So what are you gonna do now " she asked Reina knowing  fully well that having a baby came with a lot responsibilities and sacrifices  Even if her cousin was that fun loving  person  she had alot  ahead of her but what  she didn't know  was  Reina  wasn't going to dump  off the child in an orphanage.  

"That's why I  came over ...i have some money that I  wanted to go shopping  for  him but I  was wondering  if  you  could  accompany  me sofia ...since you know a lot  of  things  about been a mother " 

" Okay ...no problem, what do you need, I could  lend you  some of the onesies  I had gotten for Genesis , "

"Thanks  Sophie  , i really appreciate  ..." .

After she taken some baby stuffs from Sofia , she had proceeded  to giving  her  a list of all the important  stuffs that would be needed. Though she would've  loved to come  along with her  she had to stay because  of  Genesis . 

Reyna shopped  for almost a hour or two before getting back since they had promised  to deliver some of the things  the next day . She was so exhausted  and  needed  rest , taking off her clothes she jumped into  the shower , she needed to go back to school since she had been missing  out on a lot lately with the online classes she had been  taking for the past six months they were  not as good as been in the classes, but at least it was less expensive. She settled  for a box of pizza and soda before the loud wail wail of David drove to her feet ...she knew then and then that this was gonna be her new life and she she didn't  care  ...because  she only cared about this little  cotton ball in her arms ..kissing  his forehead .

It had been a few weeks  since she  had  the kid  and she  the most excited about  it , but she had learnt with time to adjust to the  new developments  of been a mother  . She had just visited  the hospital to give David his dose and he had been fussy since they returned  . He had refused to eat  and Reina  was  beginning  to get worried , she had to go to school  in lest than an hour and her cousin wasn't  here yet . She had agreed to watch  over David while she apply for a transfer to an online class . That way she would still attended classes and raised her new son. 

She had resigned  from  the shop two weeks back , and focused on school and her new  baby , everyone  had wondered  the reason for her sudden decision  and she had told them school . The door bell rang and she ran for it , placing david in his bassinet she answered  the door  and hugged her cousin who had come with melody.

" sofia ....thank God you are here" she voiced out with  relief making her  cousin smile at her reaction  .

' Hi ..Aunt Rena.." her niece  asked her and she replied  placing  a kiss on the toddler  cheeks. 

" Why isn't  Genesis  in school " , she asked her cousin who was proceeding  to go carry the baby , 

"She is on a break , ...why is his body warm "  Sofia enquired  

" He went for his dose this morning and he has been acting quite fussy but not too worry I  have given him  a paracetamol drop ...he would be fine all he has to do is rest "   she explained in husky voice  as she hurriedly  wore her dress , It was a nice weather  after all. 

"Ok ...have you cleaned his body ...with warm water " and she nodded  

" Just don't  worry  ...I  would do that for you ..just  hurry to school " 

"Thanks Soph ...you're  life saver ...thanks " she mumbled placing a kiss o David who was beginning  to fall asleep before leaving . 

The transfer  proceess wasn't  difficult  as she had already started the process, they went over  some question and she was granted her request... Reina  arrived at her new job. she had  started working again  as a receptionist  at a small clinic four  blocks  from  her  school.  As she wanted  to make a living for both her and son, he was beginning  to get accustomed  with  her considering  the fact she was his new mother just as he was her new member
