The word caught my attention immediately.
“What did she mean by that?” I asked before I could stop myself.
My gaze moved from the nurse to Maxton, waiting for one of them to explain.
Maxton cleared his throat.
“Yeah, Bridget,” he said casually. “I got here a while ago.”
Bridget nodded, but the look she gave him was strange. It lingered for a second too long, like she wanted to say something else but decided against it.
Then she quickly looked at me again.
Maxton muttered quickly "I'll explain to you later, Daphne.”
“ can you take us to Mrs. Juliahah’s room?” Maxton asked Bridget.
“Of course,” she replied, her smile returning, though it looked slightly forced now.
