Chapter 60I was having enough trouble walking up to the pit, staggering under the crushing pressure of the Presence. Then, the mountain lurched violently, and I almost took a header. Barely managed to stay on my feet as the lurching got worse, shifting one way and then the other. Looking around, I saw Crossbreeds and humans teeter and topple like dominoes, great hunks of ceiling crashing down around and on top of them. My stomach lurched to match the mountain, and I knew we were airborne. Parapets had finally lifted off. So there was no time to lose. No time for even the slightest of delays.
