Chapter 16.

Just then, about four nurses came to where we were standing in the hospital. One came alone, while the other three came behind her with a stretcher.

They laid Jayson down on the stretcher and rolled him inside.

I followed them, holding Jayson's hand until we got to one of the hospital rooms. And then, I was told to wait outside.

Lala on the other hand was in tears outside the hospital. Because she could not bear to see her grandson in such a state.

So, I quickly ran to meet Lala to console her.

"He's going to be fine. I promise you, nothing will happen to him." I said as I hugged Lala.

"But, how did all of this happen? And who could have planned this?" Lala asked in tears.

"I don't know Lala. But you need to calm down." I said.

Few hours later, we were being called by the doctor. And she told us that we can see Jayson. when I got to the room and I saw how he was, tears just kept coming out of my eyes and i rushed to hug him so tight not knowing he was still in pain until he shouted,

"Ouch!" and I suddenly realized that he was still injured and then I got up from him and said,

"Sorry I didn't know, hope you are okay"

"Yeah, I'm okay but still in pain what about you are you ok," he asked and I raised my head and said

" Yeah, It's just a little bruise on my elbow I'll put some ice on it when I get home no need to worry ok" and he said

"Can I see it" and I showed it to him and he touched the corners of the elbow and I shouted and said

"Ahh! ouch, it hurts a lot don't worry I'll put some ice on it"

"But it's an open wound! Why did you lie that it was just a little bruise? And it still hurts you, Nurse! nurse" he said as he called for a nurse who came in and he told the nurse that she should apply treatment to my wound.

Which she did. She applied some liquid to it and then she bandaged it. And I asked her if I could remove it tonight and she said no I can't. Then he said,

"Why do you want to remove it?It needs time to heal and you don't need to stress yourself at all, okay, I'm here for you no matter what." He said with us holding hands together.

"No no don't. I can take care of myself okay. You are the one I'm even supposed to take care of because you are badly bruised, I want you to get well soon okay." I said as I held his hand so tight still in tears.

"Can you just stop crying! You'll make me cry too." He said.

"Hmm. Okay." I said I smiled.

"If I may ask, How did you manage to get us away from those thugs? And where is Lala? Have you called her? Does she know what has happened to us? What...?" Jayson asked continuously.

"Calm down! One question at a time!" I said as I laughed.

"Okay. Then I'll be starting with my first question. Which was how you managed to get us away from the thugs." He said.

"Okay. Well, Lala brought us here. I've answered your first question." I said, smiling at him.

"Ohh really! So, how? explain." He said as he tried to get up from the hospital bed.

"Ouch!" He said while trying to sit up from the bed. I saw that he was in serious pain. So, I assisted him. So, when he was sitting, I answered his remaining questions.

"Okay, While you were receiving pain, I snuck in the taxi and collected your phone. So, I gave Lala a call and told her our situation at that point. So she sent the police and they came immediately." I explained.

"Wow! That was so brave of you." He commented.

"I know right! But, on seeing the police, the thugs tried to run away then I threw stones at them and they fell. Ha ha ha! So, that was how the police caught them, And we were taken to the hospital in Lala's car." I said.

"Ohh wow! You're such a great fighter. Ha ha ha!" He said as we laughed.

"So, where is Lala now?" He asked as we ended the laugh.

"She's downstairs in her car. Crying." I said as my mood changed. Because she's too old to be stressed like this.

"Oh No! Why is she putting herself through all this stress? She knows her condition. So, why is she doing this to herself?" He asked feeling very concerned about his Grandmother.

"I tried to stop her from crying, but she wasn't listening to me. She kept on crying and crying, Non stop! I'm sure she must be having a headache by now." I said.

"So, let's go to her together! Because I know for sure that she'll listen to me. I'm her Jayson and she's my Lala! I can't live without her. So, common on! Let's go" He said as we hurriedly rushed to Lala.

Jayson's hand was around my neck as we walked the stairs. We were given a wheelchair for Jayson to be rolled in, but he didn't like it So, he told them to take it away.

Just then, another nurse came with crutches and asked that Jayson use them as support while walking.

But, he still did not want it. 'I don't really know if he was using that medium to get close to me or what?' I said to myself.

On getting there, We met Lala sleeping on one of the visitor's seats. And then, we woke her up.

She was shocked and happy at the same time. So, she said,

"Jayson! My Jayson! I'm so sorry for not being there on time." She said with tears falling down her eyes.

"Lala! Hmm... Just stop crying. I hate to see you cry." Jayson said as he walked to her and hugged her.

"Yes, I know Jay! But, it's just that I can't help seeing you in pain." She said as more years rolled down her cheeks.

I just stood there watching how their love for each other was so strong and Lala said to me

"Come my darling come and give me a hug you were so brave back then I didn't expect you guys to come out safe and sound and then God did it, come and give your husband and me a hug" and then I quickly rushed to hug them and then we hugged for a long time and then Lala said to us

"Let's go to my house okay I won't let you people go to your house this night"

"But Lala we are fine there's nothing to worry about we can go to our house we don't want to inconvenience you," I said to him, but she kept on insisting until Jayson and I told ourselves that we should just stay with her for just one night.

And then, Lala paid for the bills and we went home to her house and we spent that night there.

I had a great time with Jayson.
