Chapter 6

*Indigo’s POV* I am so glad this week is over. I didn't have any run-ins with Miranda, so I was able to be in attendance in Werewolf History class. ‘Yay Me!’ It is Friday and this is the last football game for us Seniors. Amy all but begged me to go with her. I only go to see Shannon and Michelle cheer. I don't even pay attention to the football game. Football does not excite me. I think basketball is a much better sport to watch. However, our basketball team sucks. Football is somewhat decent if you want to go by how many games we won. “Alright, Amy, I will go to the game with you. DO NOT ask me to go to any parties cause the answer is ‘No!’.” “Why are you like this? You never want to socialize with us,” Amy whines to me. “The ‘us’ you are referring to is our classmates who always have something flip to say to me or about me. I socialize with you, Michelle, and Shannon. That is enough for me.” “What about the guys? I have never been on a date or had a boyfriend.” “Remember, Amy, I see them all during training and I have kicked all of their asses. This summer, I start training them to be somewhat decent. Hopefully, they will be able to take down at least one rogue,” I say to her laughing. “You are all talk and no bite. Let’s see how well you can take me down,” Chase says to me in the hallway. Chase Anderson, future Alpha of the North Moon pack. His ego is the same size as Texas. Chase is 6’3 and 215lbs of pure muscle. He’s on the football team, too. I guess he is a Wide back because he got a wide back. “Look Wide Back, no one was talking to you. Don’t you have practice for today’s game?” “No practice on game day. Besides, I know you wouldn’t and couldn’t do damage to me anyway,” he says to me with a cocky grin. “OK, don’t go crying to the coach being injured. I don't want to be the blame for your wide back duties.” “That’s wide receiver and you, my dear, will be pure exercise.” “Is that a challenge?” “Yes. I, Chase Anderson, future Alpha of the North Moon pack, challenge you to a friendly sparring. Do you accept my challenge?” I looked at Amy and Michelle, they shrugged their shoulders, signaling me to go for it. “I, Indigo Mason, future Head Warrior or the Blue Diamond Pack, accept your challenge to a friendly sparring.” I accepted Chase’s challenge. “Wait a minute, Blue Diamond’s future head warrior is a girl? No wonder they are going down hill and asking for alliances,” Chase mocks and laughs at us. “Ok, this gym period is a friendly sparring match between Chase Anderson and Indigo Mason. There will be no weapons used, no shifting into wolf form of any kind. It will be hand on hand combat only. Anyone who shifts will be disqualified,” the gym teacher says out loud. “This sparring will also be recorded and shown to both packs for training purposes. Alpha Jason Anderson and Alpha Jai Smith are also here to ensure a fair and friendly fight.” “Fighters, take your positions” I step on the sparring mat and stand in a defense position for Aikido. I looked at Uncle Jai, he shook his head. I changed my stance for Judo, “Indi, this is a friendly sparring. Emphases on friendly!” Uncle Jai mind-link me. So I changed my stance to Kickboxing. “Thank You” Alpha Jai says with his hand on his head. “Ready?!?! Begin!” Chase looks at me trying to access my weaknesses. Little do he know, my weakness is my use of bow and arrow. We circle each other for about a minute. “Are you going to do something, challenger, or are you just going to gawk at my thighs?” Chase runs up to me and throws a punch. It was weak and I saw it coming a mile away. I ducked his punch and gave him a small round-house kick to his chin. That woke him up a little bit. He got up and was ready to attack again. This time, Chase came at me with a left jab and right hook, with another left jab. I dodged them easily. “You see, your problem is that you keep leading your punches with your feet. It's very predictable.” Chase is not frustrated and tries to kick me and knock me off balance. It doesn’t work. I grabbed his foot using his momentum and flipped on him on his back. He landed with a hard thud that echoed throughout the gym. I can see that this pissed Chase off. He came charging at me at full speed. I ran to him and duck between his legs and kicked him in his butt and flew off the mat and landed next to his father. The students and gym teacher were cracking up laughing. “Get up and kick her ass. Stop taking in consideration that she is a girl,” I heard Alpha Jason say to Chase. This time, Chase got back to the mat and I changed my defense position to Aikido. Alpha Jai, winked at me. Chase was in position to use first year Karate. Chase again, led with his feet when making his punches. He was hitting the air, not me. I did not allow him to touch me. This was his challenge. And it was time for the Master to teach the student. After Chase got done with swings, I said, “My turn.” I gave him an uppercut, a left hook, right jab, and a jump kick to his temple. He was knocked out. The students cheered and roared in the gym. Alpha Jai and Alpha Jason shook hands, indicating it was a friendly match and that I won. “Where did you learn to fight like that, young lady?” Alpha Jason asked me with great curiosity. “I’ve been training with my dad since I was 5 years old. I started out with basic kickboxing. I was telling Chase what he was doing wrong. I guess he thought I was making fun of him. He got mad and frustrated in the second round. I used his momentum against him. Before the third round, I heard what you said to him so I changed my fighting style and knocked him out since the period was ending,” I explained to Alpha Jason. “Alpha Jai, you have been holding out on me. Indigo is a well kept secret, I see,” Alpha Jason stated in Uncle Jai. “Well my niece is special and dear to me, plus she is still a minor.” “How old are you?” “I’m 17 sir.” “When will you be 18?” “Next month.” “My son will be at the mating ball, will you be attending?” “Yes.” “I hope he is your fated mate.” “He will need more practice, more endurance and a lot less ego for that to happen, Alpha Jason,” I said to him without a care in the world. I walked off with my friends leaving him to chat with Uncle Jai.
