The Lost Girl

Chapter Eight - Human Community

After an hour of sleep, Star finally gave Esmeralda control of her body by shifting back in her human form. Esmeralda was naked and had no clothes with her. It's a good thing her hair was long enough to cover her butt but she still needs something to cover her private parts. 

"Star we need clothes. I feel weird being naked. Are we nearby to civilization," asked Esmeralda Knight? She was trying to use her hands to cover herself but still felt very uncomfortable. 

Star then suggested; "if you’re uncomfortable, shift back into your wolf. I can smell a human community nearby. With a big smile on her face, she said, awesome. I hate feeling awkward without clothes. Plus we need water, food, and essentials to keep moving forward." Esmeralda then shifts back into her wolf and runs toward a community filled with humans.

As Esmeralda got close to the first house she sees, she turned back into her human form, crunching down on the floor. She starts crawling and rolling around like a ninja would do. Then she spots a clothesline filled with clothes on the line. 

"Bingo, clothes," yelled Esmeralda Knight! She jumps up to the first cloth she can reach and yanks it down pulling the whole line down, snapping. 

"Whoops! I didn't expect that," Esmeralda Knight giggles. She then puts on a dress with leggings. Lucky her, she found some ballet flats outside on the porch. 

"It’s a perfect size," said Esmeralda Knight. Then Star agreed about the beautiful choice. Esmeralda quickly grabs the rest of the clothes and stores it in a bag she found lying in the yard. 

"I'll need this," said Esmeralda Knight.

As Esmeralda was almost done zipping up her backpack, Star felt danger nearby and said, "Esme, I smell danger. Hurry up." 

Esmeralda quickly took a quick glance around and said, "all done. Let's find some food." 

Then Star suggested; "the sun is still up. Let's wait ‘til the sun goes down. Don't want to get spotted right now." Then Esmeralda heard voices approaching nearby. 

"Oh no. Someone is coming," said Esmeralda Knight. 

"Quick, behind the bush. Go," said Star. Esmeralda quickly runs behind the bush hiding and peeking out a little to see what those voices are. 

After a while, two humans appear while having a conversation with each other. 

"They are humans, Esme. We still can't trust them," said Star. 

"You think they can see us," asked Esmeralda Knight? The boys continued on laughing and talking about how their day went. 

"So who was that girl you were talking to? She's hot," asked Liam. 

"Dude that was my sister and don’t talk about her like that. I don't want to hear one dirty thought coming from your mouth," said Oliver. 

Liam continued; "alright man. It's all good. You must introduce me to your sister. She is so..."

Then Oliver quickly interrupted him; "enough, la la la la la. My virgin ears. What did I say?" 

Liam begins to say, "ok, ok. I'll stop. But promise me you will introduce us, please." 

"Wait what's that? Behind the bush," Liam said while pointing to where Esmeralda was hidden at. 

"I think it’s a little girl," said Oliver while both boys get near to the bush and capture the little girl. Esmeralda was so focused on not get caught but it was already too late when the boys caught her arm before she sped off. 

"Ahhhhhh! Let go of me," said Esmeralda Knight. 

"Well, well, well. What do we got here," asked Liam? 

Then Oliver asked, "are you spying on us little one? "

While Oliver was still holding Esmeralda’s arm with a grip, she spoke up, "what are you talking about? I'm just hiding from you guys. Not spying. Let go! "

Oliver let go of her arm and said, "it's the same thing. Why are you hiding? Or should I say where your parents are?" 

Esmeralda then spoke with a sad expression on her face and said; "they died 3 days ago."

Feeling guilty, Liam continued to ask her questions; "how about a sibling or family member? "

Esmeralda had never met any family members and her parents never talked about any of them. So she was clueless and said, "no, my parents never mentioned any family members." 

Oliver started to question her, "where do you live and how did you get here? "

Before she opened her mouth to answer, Star stated, "don't say one word. We can't trust humans. They can hurt us." 

Esmeralda nodded her head and began, "my name is Esmeralda and I lived in the forest with my parents. They got killed in action…" Esmeralda took a pause to think about whether, to tell the truth, or lie and then she decided to lie a little bit and continued. …"Bears. They got killed in action by ‘bears’ while protecting me. Then I ran as fast I can and somehow I ended up here, lost." 

"Bears that’s a good one," said Star. Star was shocked and proud that Esmeralda was able to cover up her story about the truth of werewolves. After a moment of silence, the boys felt sorry for Esmeralda and wanted to help her out. 

Liam said, "so sorry little one. Why didn't you head back for help near your home?" 

Esmeralda answered, "the bears were chasing me and just recently a bear caught up to me." 

Oliver also feeling sorry for Esmeralda said, "do not worry. Bears never pass by hear. They are too afraid of us." 

Oliver says it with pride, "bears don't have a chance." 

Liam interrupts, "three days; you've been on the run? Oh my. Poor you." 

Then Esmeralda concludes, "I must find my way back home. My parents’ friends are looking for me." 

Wondering if her parent’s friends were going to come and find her, she still had hopes that someone from that pack actually was going to find her soon and take her home. But then again, she wasn’t too sure that perhaps they did forget about her and maybe she will never find home again. Esmeralda hated her negative thoughts. She was falling into depression.
