CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT It was 2:47 when she lay down on the bed and by 2:50, she knew that sleep would be impossible. Still, it was glorious to lie down. She could feel the adrenaline wearing off as her body relaxed. The ringing in her ears came slightly for a moment and then died off. She had to lie down with her head at the foot of the bed to stay away from the hole in the mattress that showed where a bullet had nearly ended her life. She kept replaying the scene in her head.
