AGAINST THE TIME

CHAPTER 3

"WE'RE COMING

The strange sound was carried through the wind as it passes by their ear.

“We’re coming” a voice said that scared them and went through their ears; as if someone was calling out to them.

A voice that didn’t belong to any of them, everyone had heard it except for Marcus.

“Wait…did you hear that?” Jasmine asks

“Heard what?” Marcus asks

“There was this creepy voice…”

“Nope, I’ve heard none” Marcus said

“No, it felt like it was around here somewhere” She said as she started walking away while Marcus followed her.

“Are you hearing this?” Angelo asks

“If you mean a voice that sent chills to my spine, yes” Samara said

“I think they’re trying to play with us, you know? Pranks” Angelo said

“I think…I think the voice is here somewhere” Samara said

“We should follow it” Angelo suggested as they did follow the voice.

“Wait…what was that? That was kind of creepy” Kenzi said

“I should follow it…” She thought as she continued to do so.

As they were going closer and closer to the sound, they saw a light that grew and grew so they decided to run.

“Where were you guys?” Marcus asks as he saw the rest

“I saw this light that was just right in front of us” Kenzi said

“What do you guys think that is?” Angelo asks as he saw the light of the source, a bottle.

The light suddenly grew bigger as if it had exploded from the bottle and what they saw made them scream out of fear.

They faced the spirits of the season as the spirits started to fly around.

Carpo, the goddess of autumn, went towards Kenzi;

Persephone, goddess of spring, went towards Samara,

Auxo (Goddess of summer) went to Angelo

while Khione (Goddess of Winter) went to Jasmine.

While his friends got possessed, Marcus was the only one that didn’t get possessed

“What happened to you guys?” He asks them

“I don’t know but my head hurts” Samara said

Minutes passed by and Samara’s headache grew worse and worse.

Her vision went blurry that she almost passed out.

“Samara!” Kenzi exclaimed “Are you okay?” She asks

“My head just hurts…a lot” Samara said

“Come on, let’s put you in the ground to rest” Marcus said

It was almost morning when Samara had a headache and her vision went blurry.

As her vision continued to be blurred, she saw how Smite took over the world of Kairoa and how he was defeated by the Spirits of Season.

Events flashed before her eyes, slowly fading along with her headache as her vison came back to normal slowly.

“You good?” Jasmine asks

“Here, have drink some water” Kenzi said as she offered her a bottle.

Samara finished the whole bottle as she tried to catch her breath.

“I saw this place….it was shining and it was beautiful but I can’t describe it verbally, and it felt like…we need to go there…...as soon as possible” She said, breathing through stops

“Why would we need to do that?” Marcus asks

“There was this huge dragon that took over and destroyed the place.

I think they’re in danger” Samara said

“And where are we going?” Angelo asks

A headache hits her again and another vision was given. It showed the way to their destination and it also showed a portal and how to open it.

“I think someone’s controlling me “Samara said

“It’s as if they’re using me to communicate” She said

“So, you’re saying your getting controlled and ‘someone’ is answering for us?” Angelo asks

“Yeah, I feel like someone really is controlling me” She said

“What are they saying? Are you seeing something?” Marcus asks

“I saw a path that led to a portal, I also saw how to open the portal!” Samara said

They decided to follow Samara as she led them towards the river.

A few hours went by

They reach the river but the current was so strong they couldn’t pass the river.

“What are we going to do now?” Marcus looked at Samara

“I’m a bit tired” Kenzi said as she sat near a rock

“I think you should ask whoever possessed you” Angelo said as he turned towards Samara

“I’ll ask” Marcus said

“Who are you? What do you guys want from us?”

Samara’s head aches again as the spirit flashed images in her head.

“What do you see?” Jasmine asks her

“I think they’re spirits of the gods and goddesses of seasons” Samara said

“Well, what do they need from us?”marcus ask

“They said they needed help”samara said

“Why? I thought they were gods and goddesses. Surely they’re immortal” Marcus said

“A dragon took over their world, that’s why” Samara said

“A dragon that can control both weather and lightning named Smite”

“Weather and lightning? Okay, but why us?” Angelo asks

“They said we were written on the prophecy” Samara said

“And how do they expect us to defeat a dragon that can control the weather and lightning and had defeated Olympus?” Marcus asks

“How are we suppose to cross this river?” Marcus asks

Samara’s head once again aches as the spirits shows the plan to cross it and told her friends immediately.

“Alright, here’s what we’re going to do.” She spoke

“kenzi, you need to control the wind to slow down the current of water” She looks at kenzi as everyone stared back at her with confusion

“H-how am I suppose to do that?” kenzi asks

“You just need to believe to activate your powers and control the wind” Samara said

“Activate, my a*s…” Marcus mumbles

“You don’t have one” Angelo whispers back as they both laugh silently.

kenzi rolled her eyes and closes it to try and ‘control’ the wind.

“It’s not working’ kenzi said, he turns to Samara

“Are you sure you’re not playing with us?” he asks

“kenzi has a point, are you sure it’s not just all in your head?” jasmine asks

“Listen to me! What about those flashes of scenes I saw?” Samara asks

“Your going mental” Angelo said

“Then don’t listen to me! Don’t believe me, my head really aches but hey! I’m just faking it!” She sarcastically says

kenzi lets out a sigh as she tries hard again.

The wind blew cold as he hazel eyes slowly turns orange as it shines.

"oh my God , he made it!" jasmine said

"ok now jasmine, all you need to do is to touch the river

"seriously?" jasmine ask

samara took a little bit sigh

"okay², I will do it"jasmine said

she slowly go in the river and touch the water

“jasmine, what’s going on? What’s happening?” Marcus asks but Jasmine couldn’t hear him

The winder blew colder and colder as she slowly hugs her self as she hazel eyes slowly turns blue as it shines and spreads it towards the river. The river turned ice as Jasmine fainted

“Jasmine! Wake up” Samara yelled

She slowly regains her consciousness with a little bit of confusion.

“W-what had happened? Why is the river become ice?” She asks

“You did that yourself” Marcus explained

“I-I don’t remember anything” Jasmine said

Samara got another headache and said:

“You did that Jasmine, I saw it, we all saw it with our own eyes. You can’t really remember anything well right now and feel weak because it was your first time. We should also be used in using our powers before we enter the portal” Samara explained as she looks at everyone

“Where’s the portal located?” Kenzi asks

“We need to carefully cross the river and enter a through a forest, there will be a cave on the other side of the forest where the portal will be seen standing” Samara said

“This is going to be a long journey” Angelo sighed

“We should get going” Marcus said as they crossed the iced river, careful not to break it.

They saw the forest in a distance after they successfully crossed.

There’s one problem…it’s down the hills.

“How are we going to get there fast?” Angelo asks tiredly

“Are you guys thinking what I’m thinking?” Jasmine looks at them and asks

“No Jasmine, we’re not mind readers here” Angelo sarcastically replies

Jasmine rolls her eyes as she used her power to create a frozen slide down to the forest. As Samara also used her powers to create them a safe landing place by placing a net and tying it’s string to the branches.

“Woah” Angelo exclaimed as he saw what they did

“I think I should also use my powers now” He then said, looking at his hands

“Don’t!” Marcus exclaimed “Only use them for good purposes”

“He’s right Angelo, don’t try it yet unless it’s a emergency” Samara warned him

“Geez, fine. I won’t “Angelo said

“Ladies first!” Kenzi said as Samara slid down first.

Followed by Jasmine, Kenzi, Angelo and Marcus

They slid down and landed safe as they faced the forest.

“That was fun” Jasmine laughed

“We still need to get through this forest” Samara said

The forest gave them creepy vibes, sending chills down their spine as they looked at each other.

Darkness was coming in soon and they almost had nothing with them except their backpacks and an extra bag that they bring with them during their camping.

“I think we should stay here until sunrise. Then, we can safely go through the forest with light” Marcus suggested

“Angelo, make a campfire for us” Marcus said as he sets up the tent

He gathers up wood and sets it up in the middle where there wasn’t a lot of plants to get burned nearby.

He turns his electric lighter on and realized it didn’t have any battery anymore.

“Wait, what are we going to do?” He turns and asks

“Do things the traditional way?” Kenzi said

“I have an idea, what if…I use my power?” He suggests

“I mean, it is an emergency” Samara said

He tries and tries but he still couldn’t light them a campfire. They decided they were going to sleep with cold feet, except for Angelo who couldn’t sleep properly and kept trying and trying.

He throws the wood away, frustrated of his results.

“You, okay?” Kenzi woke up and asks

Angelo’s eyes grew red as he successfully burned the wood.

“H-how did I – “He was so overwhelmed he couldn’t finish the sentence

“Hmm, I don’t know but let’s sleep” Kenzi said as he goes back to bed

He lies down unto his sleeping bag as he slowly drifts to sleep, thinking about what he had just done.

“Guys, wake up” Marcus said as he gently shakes them

They ate a bit of their food that they had packed to consume energy.

“We should have bought more food before deciding to go unto this trip” Jasmine said

“True” Kenzi agrees

“We should get going” Samara said as they finished cleaning up their site.

They looked at the forest, nothing had changed since last night. It felt like they were about to die to every footstep they made as they entered to the forest.

Hours had passed by and they felt like they were getting watched and followed.

They didn’t know how dangerous this thing that they were about to counter until…
