I reached my office with Alex and Sean behind me. As soon as the door shut, I spun around, frustration burning in my eyes. "You could have warned me! How was I supposed to control Xyler? I almost lost it in front of humans." I rubbed my forehead and slumped into my chair.
Sean raised his hands. "Sorry, man. It was a surprise. I know you’ve been dealing with a lot." His eyes softened.
I let out a sigh, my shoulders sagging as the tension began to ebb away. “It’s fine. At least she’ll be closer now. That is the only thing keeping my jackass of a wolf at bay.”
‘Hi, I take offense to that,’ Xyler growled, voice tinged with offense.
