CHAPTER 5
Hazel — POV
“Thanks, Raymond,” I said with a tired smile as he pulled up in front of Mia's house.
“You're welcome,” he replied smoothly, giving a slight nod before driving off into the night.
I walked into the house, heart racing.
Mia’s voice greeted me instantly.
“So… how was your day?” she asked, scanning me with curiosity.
“It was… great,” I replied dreamily, unable to hide the silly grin on my face.
She raised an eyebrow. “Oh, I know that look. Spill it.”
I dropped my bag, twirled once, and flopped onto the couch.
“My boss is Alexander Wilson,” I sighed, practically swooning. “And he’s so hot and handsome.”
Mia gave me a teasing side-eye.
“I knew it! You’re already whipped.”
Before I could argue, she grinned.
“But before you tell me everything, I made your favorite.”
I gasped. “Wait—seriously?!”
“Check the kitchen.”
I rushed in, squealing with excitement.
“You made bulgogi?!” I threw my arms around her.
“You’re the best roommate ever. I love you!”
“I know,” she laughed. “Now eat and give me the full tea.”
---
Later that night…
I was about to take my first bite when my phone buzzed.
A text. From Rose.
> 📩 Mr. Wilson requests your presence in his office at 8 AM tomorrow. Also, be prepared — you will be moving into his residence for work purposes. The car will pick you up at 7 AM.
I stared at the message.
Moving in?
My fork clattered onto the plate.
Mia noticed. “What is it?”
I swallowed hard. “He... wants me to move into his house.”
Her eyes widened. “WHAT?”
I showed her the message. My hands were shaking.
“Is that even normal?” I whispered.
“I mean… live with him? Isn’t that crazy?”
Mia bit her lip.
“It’s insane. But… you need this job. And if you say no…?”
“I lose everything,” I finished quietly.
I looked over at Mira, hugging her teddy bear on the couch.
I had no choice.

Alexander — POV
Morning sunlight filtered through the tall windows of my penthouse.
I stood in the kitchen, sipping black coffee.
Bringing her here is reckless.
But I couldn’t shake the feeling.
Something about Hazel… unsettled me.
“Sir,” Rose’s voice came through the intercom.
“Miss Hayden has arrived.”
I glanced at the clock. 7:03 AM.
Punctual.
“Send her up,” I said.

Hazel — POV
The elevator doors opened, and I stepped into a palace in the sky.
Polished floors. Marble accents. Panoramic views of the city.
I swallowed hard.
This was his world. I didn’t belong here.
Alexander stood at the breakfast bar in a crisp shirt, sleeves rolled up.
“Good morning, sir,” I said softly.
He looked up and nodded, unreadable.
“You’re early.”
“I thought it would be better to settle in before we head to the office.”
“We’re not going in today,” he said. “You’ll be working from here. Rose will send your schedule.”
I hesitated. “Sir… I wanted to ask. Moving in… is that really necessary?”
His gaze met mine—sharp, cool.
“I work late. I need someone available at all hours. If that is a problem, you are free to decline. But you will also be declining the job.”
My heart sank.
No, I can’t lose this job.
I forced a small smile.
“It’s not a problem, sir.”
He gestured down the hall.
“Your room. Third door on the right.”
I rolled my suitcase down the hallway, my heart pounding.
New job.
New home.
New life.
And a dangerously cold, impossibly handsome boss.
Was I ready for this?
To be continued…
Will Hazel survive living under the same roof as Alexander Wilson?
Or will the ice finally begin to melt?
