CHAPTER 2 The Interview That Could Change Everything Enemies. Trauma. Survival. But fate has other plans… --- Alexander — In His Office (POV) I stared out the tall glass windows of my office, watching the city below blur into lights and shadows. “Alex,” Raymond’s voice broke through my thoughts as he entered. “I can’t stop thinking about that waitress. She’s absolutely stunning, don’t you think?” “Why are you telling me this?” I snapped without turning around. He let out a frustrated sigh. “Why do you always act this way? Just because one woman hurt you doesn’t mean they’re all the same.” Before I could answer, he shook his head and stormed out, slamming the door. I didn’t care. We’d had this conversation too many times before. I suppose I should explain. I’m Alexander Wilson—the youngest billionaire in America. The man on every magazine cover, the name in every boardroom whisper. And yet… I want nothing to do with love. Not anymore. Once, I had it all—a fiancée I trusted, a future I believed in. But she betrayed me. Since then, I’ve built walls no one can climb. I take what I want, and I leave before anyone can hurt me again. It’s cold. Ruthless. But it’s survival. And no wide-eyed waitress will change that. --- Hazel — After the Storm (POV) “Mr. Tristan, please—you can’t fire me. I need this job,” I pleaded, trying to keep my voice steady. He leaned back, smirking. “I might reconsider—if you give me what I want,” he said, eyes full of disgusting intent. I clenched my fists. I’d endured his harassment for too long. “Never,” I spat, turning on my heel and walking out without looking back. Tears stung my eyes as I stepped into the cold air outside. I couldn’t go home—not yet. Not like this. Instead, I went straight to Mia’s apartment. “I can’t believe he fired you!” Mia gasped when I told her everything. “How will you take care of yourself and Mira now?” “I… I don’t know.” My voice broke. “Aunt Lyla will try to force me into her line of work again.” “Then move in with me,” Mia said instantly, her tone leaving no room for argument. “Are you serious? Oh my God—thank you, Mia. I love you so much!” I cried, hugging her tightly. “I love you too. We’re family now,” she whispered. --- Raymond — The Friend Who Stays (POV) “Alex, I can’t believe you fired your personal assistant. Again,” I said, exasperated as I followed him into his office. He didn’t even blink. “She started getting clingy after one night.” Emotionless. Cold. “Just hire a new one,” he added, already walking away. Sometimes, I wonder how we’re even friends. --- Mia — The Bridge of Hope (POV) “Hey, girlfriend!” I called as I walked into the living room. It had been three weeks since Hazel and little Mira moved in. Aunt Lyla hadn’t taken it well—Hazel had to cut ties completely. “Mia, how was your day?” Hazel asked, stepping out of the kitchen. “Hectic. But guess what?” I grinned, barely able to hold in my excitement. “What?” she asked, eyes curious. “AW Empire Holdings is hiring a personal assistant. I spoke to a friend there and… you have an interview tomorrow. 8 a.m. sharp!” Hazel gasped. “I can’t believe this. You’re the best person in my life,” she whispered tearfully. I hugged her tight. “It’s nothing. Just get the job—and then you can treat me to a fancy dinner.” She laughed, and I winked. “Now come on—we need to find the perfect outfit for you.” --- To be continued… --- #CEO Romance#EnemiesToLovers #ProtectiveHero#BillionaireDrama#OfficeRomance#SingleGuardian#StrongHeroine#SweetSisterBond#EmotionalHealing#DarkPast #SecondChances
