The streets of Edinburgh were teeming with life. Patrick Stuart was ignoring his attorney as he droned on about his uncle's will and the implications it held for his estate. He was staring out the window at a beautiful woman coming down the street. If he had looked out the window a moment later or hadn't at all, he would have missed her. As it happened, he saw her just as she stepped from a milliner's shop, the wind whipping around her skirts and blowing her blonde curls free, despite her elegant hat.
