Honor went to the floor of her bedroom and lifted a board. Reaching a hand into the hole, Honor grasped the small box that contained her savings and the jewelry she had taken from Kent Manor. She had five hundred pounds, three necklaces with precious jewels and two rings. The jewelry she would save for emergencies and the pound notes she would use to find a small cottage. Honor heard a soft knock on her door. She shoved the box back into the hole, replaced the board and called, "Come in." Davenport opened her door, his face gratefully blank.
