Dominic’s POV
Standing outside Ruby’s door, I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. The sound echoed through the hallway, and I waited, feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement. I couldn’t wait to see my son. When she finally opened the door, I was taken aback by her appearance. Her eyes were red, swollen and puffy, as if she’d been crying for hours.
“Are you okay?” I asked, my concern genuine.
She avoided my gaze, her voice flat. “Just focus on why you’re here.”
