Pearl flopped down on the warm white sand, her breathing coming out in short, breathless pants and her body ached.
"That was fun but we probably shouldn't have done it," said Leonard who was lying beside her shirtless as he had pulled off his shirt after getting to land.
Pearl threw him a baleful look, still not used to his newfound pleasantness to glare like she wanted to.
"You cheated," she accused, rolling over on her back and using her arm to shield her eyes from the sun.
The blood and dirt had washed off during the swim leaving her skin completely exposed to the sunrays. "I burn in the sun when I don't have sunscreen on," she informed him, already feeling the effects of exposure.
He sat up and Pearl fought the urge to squirm as hie eyes roamed over her reddening form.
