Pearl screamed as the phone that now had a bullet in it fell from her hand, and jumped away.
Leonard raised the gun back up to her head, the white of his eye a violent red.
For a few seconds, there was nothing but silence in the kitchen as he stared her down, the pot bubbling in the background.
Then, he moved.
"I'm sorry-, I don't know what I was thinking-, you said all that stuff about keeping me here and I panicked and called him," the words came spewing out of her mouth as she backed away from him, her hands held out, uselessly to keep the distance between them.
"I should shoot you," he hissed through clenched teeth as he backed her trembling form into the wall. "I should pull the trigger right now and paint the wall with your brains."
