Patrolman Joe Gallagher sighed, smiled to himself, and sat back in the worn-out seat of the patrol car. Patting his stomach a couple of times, he turned and looked at his partner. “The gut is telling me it’s bean time. Where are we going for lunch today?” The two patrol officers were sitting in their marked patrol car in an alley just off Sixth watching the traffic go back and forth. It was a Tuesday. The sun was hanging low in the west. Evening traffic was picking up. The radar g*n was displaying numbers for each speeding car flashing past them. The radar’s display screen was constantly spewing numbers.
