He stepped off the elevator and waited for the polished stainless-steel doors to close behind him. Glancing to his left his eyes played down one length of the long hotel hallway and noted the stillness before he turned his head to look down the right side. Everything was quiet. Nothing stirred. As he expected it to be. It was a little past noon. Usually a time when most hotel rooms were empty. Or the guests were sound asleep. Or out seeing the sights. Glancing at the security camera at the far end of the hall to his left he noticed the little red light was on. As was the one at the end of the hall on the right side. Active cameras. Recording the coming and going of everyone. Fortunately, no one was down in the security room monitoring the screens. A little fracas down on the eighth floor
