A light rain was falling. Steady. Filling the streets with a reflective wetness that seemed to magnify every taillight, every street lamp, every garish neon sign blazing brightly above the city’s river or unending traffic. It was rush hour. Bumper-to-bumper monsters breathing in irritation in the crawl of steel and glass and exhausted libidos. An idling ocean of econo-cars and SUVs, pickup trucks, and sports cars in a rain squall the radio said wasn’t going to stop until sometime tomorrow. The heavy traffic was getting heavier with each passing second as more and more shops and small businesses closed their doors and flipped over their CLOSED signs before walking out and getting into their respective modes of transportation.
