Jayden’s pov.
I slip into my apartment late in the evening and the first thing I see is Zoe walking back into the kitchen with a plate of food in her hand and a sullen look on her face.
She spots me and forces a smile onto her face, it’s right and fake and it really doesn’t erase the hurt look in her eyes. I let out a small sigh and walk over to where she’s now covering up the dish.
“She kicked you out again?” I ask stiffly, Zoe doesn’t respond, but she does toss herself at me and wraps her arms around my waist.
I flinch a little and even though my hands itch to do it, I don’t push her away.
“I just don’t understand why she’s so mean to me? I’ve been trying and I’ve been so nice to her since day one, but she just…” she sniffles. “She’s just so mean to me…”
