Chapter four:werewolves??

Seated across from each other in the bustling cafeteria, Tima and I started a conversation that bridged the gap between lunar research intricacies and the lighter rumors of office life. Tima, her eyes animated, leaned in with a conspiratorial grin. "You'll soon learn that lunar research is a bit like navigating a maze blindfolded. But trust me, there's always a method to the madness." I was eager to absorb any insights so I nodded. "I'm ready for the challenge, but it feels like I've stepped into a whole new world." Tima chuckled, "You'll get the hang of it. Remember, every project has its quirks, and we all make our fair share of timely blunders. One time, I accidentally labeled a batch of moon rock samples with stickers meant for the coffee machine. Let's just say the lab techs were in for a caffeine-infused surprise!" I couldn't help but laugh at the mental image. "I can imagine that created some confusion." Tima continued, "Oh, absolutely. But it's moments like these that make the journey memorable. Don't be afraid to embrace the unexpected. It's where the real discoveries happen." Encouraged by Tima's perspective, I decided to share my own adventures. "Speaking of unexpected, you know, at Camp Dacotin, we once had to create gourmet meals out of the tiniest portions of rice and beans. It became a culinary competition with my friend Gracie." Tima's eyes lit up with interest. "Now, that sounds like a challenge. What was your most creative dish?" I grinned, "Gracie arranged the rice in a heart shape, and the beans were like a constellation around it. We even named it 'Culinary Love in the Wilderness.'" Tima burst into laughter, "That's brilliant! You'll find that creativity serves you well in both lunar research and gourmet campfire cooking." As we chatted, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had found a kindred spirit in Tima, a colleague who not only understood the challenges of lunar research but also embraced the human side of the scientific journey. The cafeteria buzzed with the clatter of trays and animated conversations, creating a backdrop for the blossoming friendship between Tima and I. As the lunch break came to an end, I returned to my desk, feeling a renewed sense of determination. As the workday at Lunar Research Solutions drew to a close, I hailed a taxi, the hum of the city gradually enveloping my in a soothing rhythm. The day's challenges lingered in my thoughts, but the promise of home brought in an inviting feeling, offering a sanctuary from the complexities of lunar research. As the taxi navigated through the familiar streets, anticipation mixed with weariness in my mind. The city lights painted fleeting strokes of warmth on the evening sunset sky, casting shadows that danced along the edges of my anxiety. Upon reaching my neighborhood, a knot of anticipation tightened in my stomach. The taxi slowed to a stop, and I stepped out, my eyes scanning the familiar structure of my home. The initial comfort gave way to a chilling realization. My heart raced as I stood before a scene that shattered the tranquility I had expected. Half of my home stood in ruins, a silent testament to some unforeseen catastrophe. The air was thick with the awful scent of ruined remnants, and the evening shadows seemed to cling to the broken fragments of what was once my cherished home. My hands trembled as I fumbled for my keys, unlocking the door to a surreal sight of devastation. The walls shook and danced with the whispers of what had been, and the fragments of my life lay scattered like the remnants of a fallen star. Fear and confusion gripped me as I moved cautiously through the wreckage, desperate for answers. The living room, once filled with the laughter of family, was now a somber testament to an inexplicable tragedy. The moon, visible through the broken window, cast an eerie glow over the remnants of my cherished belongings. A sense of fear settled over me, intensifying with each step. Questions raced through my mind like meteors in the night sky. What had transpired in my absence? Who or what had reduced my home to ruins? Anxiety clung to me like the darkness that enveloped the fractured walls. With a heavy heart, I yearned for answers that seemed to elude me in the moonlit aftermath of an inexplicable calamity called out to my mom. "Mom? Dad?" No response. "Dave? Monte?"I called unto my older and younger brother. Then, a faint cough echoed through the air, capturing my attention. Another cough followed, and I frantically searched for the source. I looked around trying to search for where the noise came from. Then another cough ensued. "Hello?" I called out, anxiety coiling tighter within me. A silhouette emerged from the haze of smoke, and my heart leaped with relief. It was my dad, looking pale but alive, guiding my older brother, Dave, and younger brother, Monte, toward the remnants of what was once our home. As my family stumbled into the moonlit night, I rushed to them, my eyes scanning their faces for any signs of harm. The weight of uncertainty lingered, but the sight of my family's survival offered a glimmer of solace. "What happened?" I asked, desperation lacing my words. My parents, appearing shaken but resolute, tried to calm the chaotic storm of emotions that is still shocking to their children. My younger brother, Monte, his voice tremulous, began to recount the harrowing events. "We were attacked by animals. Vicious creatures out of nowhere." "Werewolves," my mom corrected with a gravity that sent shivers down our spines. The revelation hung in the air like an unspoken truth, and the children exchanged shocked glances. The moon, casting its silver glow over the broken landscape, seemed to hold secrets that extended beyond the realm of their understanding. My dad, taking a deep breath, spoke with a solemnity that cut through the disarray. "We need to gather what we can and find a safer place. There's more to this than we know, and we can't stay here." That was all the lie Emily’s parents told them even if they knew exactly who attacked them and one of the reasons they were attacked was because Emily’s mum was a witch and Emily’s dad is a human and werewolves have never been at peace with the witches and have always hated humans and the coming together of a witch and a human who have now produce three half breeds infuriated the small population of werewolves that new about this and they wanted to eliminate them before more werewolves found out about it and that wasn’t all.
