My legal team had certainly earned their retainer. While the rest of the suspects were rotting in holding cells, I was comfortably seated in the witness lounge with a fresh espresso. The police had classified me as a cooperating witness, granting me privileges the others could only dream of.
I wasn't allowed to leave the precinct, but I had my freedom within these four walls.
