“My future Luna.”
For a moment, the entire gathering fell into stunned silence, hearing Alpha Zenith’s announcement. Violet felt the world stop spinning. Her breath caught in her throat.
Her mind refused to process what she had just heard. Did Alpha Zenith truly say that?
Her trembling gaze slowly lifted toward the imposing man standing beside her.
Alpha Zenith Beckham stood tall and unshaken before many pairs of eyes. His broad shoulders were squared in confidence, his expression was cold and commanding. Power radiated from him as he stared at the crowd with intimidation and fierce determination.
As though he were daring anyone present to challenge him.
Voilet’s heart was literally about to leap out of her chest. Call it happiness or fear but she was staring at the man who announced her as his with warm eyes.
Every emotion collided inside her chest at once. He had acknowledged her. Publicly!
For the first time in her life, Violet felt seen. She felt wanted.Unfortunately, the reaction of other people standing there was completely different from Violet’s.
A collective gasp swept through the crowd.
Whispers immediately erupted from every corner of the hall.
"What did he say?" Someone let out.
"Future Luna? The human girl? This must be a joke." Another one remarked.
"Alpha Zenith cannot be serious."
Shock painted every face. Even the high-ranking Alphas and elders looked utterly speechless.
Meanwhile, Keroline’s face drained of color. Her blood turned into the hot burning lava as she watched her position being snatched. Her wolf howled furiously inside her mind.
No!
That title belonged to her. She was supposed to become Luna. She was supposed to stand beside Alpha Zenith.
Yet now that insignificant human had stolen everything. Keroline watched the unmistakable happiness blooming in Violet's eyes. And she hated it. She hated her.
A murderous low growl escaped her throat. She took a step forward to hurt Violet. But before she could reach her, Nikita's hand shot out and clamped around her arm.
"Mom! Let me go!" Keroline snarled."I want to rip that human b***h apart!"
Nikita tightened her grip. “Shut up, Lina," Nikita whispered harshly. "Can't you see who is standing beside her? Control yourself.” Keroline’s gaze returned to Zenith.
The Alpha was already watching her. His golden eyes had darkened dangerously. In a warning.
Keroline’s courage instantly faltered. Hot tears burned her eyes. Humiliation twisted her chest. Without another word, she yanked her arm free and stormed away from the gathering.
Her wolf continued screaming inside her head.
Nikita clenched her fists. Seeing her daughter broken like that only fueled her own fury. She turned sharply toward Alpha Giovanni.
"Alpha Giovanni!" she snapped. The crowd instantly quieted.
"Is this some kind of mockery? I welcomed your family into our territory because of my daughter Keroline, not this human disgrace!" Her eyes flashed with contempt.
"Do you truly think that a wolfless creature could become Luna of your pack, one of the strongest packs in the continent?”
The elders exchanged uneasy glances. Others nodded. They had same question.
Giovanni's expression turned as cold as ice. He stared at his son who firmly stood beside Violet. Proudly and daring anyone to question his decision.
Before he could answer, another voice interrupted.
"Alpha Zenith." Arthur stepped forward. His face was red with rage. “I do not agree with this decision."
Zenith’s eyes flashed like an angry thundering sky.
The Alpha's aura exploded outward.
"Your agreement means nothing to me, Alpha Arthur." Zenith's deep voice echoed through the hall like distant thunder as he wrapped his hand around Violet’s waist possessively, “Violet is my mate. And nobody will take her away from me." He roared, making Arthur’s eyes widened. The hall erupted.
"What?" Someone exclaimed from the group.
"Mate?"
"His fated mate?"
"The Moon Goddess paired the most powerful Alpha Zenith with a human?"
"Impossible!"
But Zenith didn’t bat an eye at anyone. As if he expected these reactions. Even his parents were shocked. He never mentioned this to them before. Giovanni was too shocked to say anything.
Several elders stood from their seats. One council member stepped forward.
"We respect your decision but Alpha Zenith, a human cannot survive Luna responsibilities!"
Another added quickly.
"How will she strengthen the pack?"
"What about future heirs? What about pack traditions?" A third elder narrowed his eyes.
"Alpha Zenith, are you prepared to risk political instability for a mating bond?" Questions came from every direction.
Violet stood frozen. Tears gathered in her eyes. For years she had endured neglect. Humiliation. Cruelty. And Rejection. Yet Zenith had chosen her despite everything. He hadn't hidden her. He hadn't denied her. He hadn't abandoned her.
Instead, he stood before an entire community and claimed her. Pride swelled painfully inside her chest.
Meanwhile, Giovanni exchanged a grim look with General Frederick. The older wolf looked troubled. Not angry but concerned.
As General of the werewolf community, Frederick held considerable authority. Finally, he stepped forward.
"I wouldn’t go against the fated bond or your decision, Alpha Zenith." His diplomatic tone instantly quieted the room. “However, as General, I must request a private discussion."
