CHAPTER-3: RUN

Violet got up from her rough sleep on the cold floor. Her body ached, but she knew there was no time for self-pity. The banquet was tonight, and Keroline needed everything perfect, her hair, her dress, her grand entrance. All tasks fell on her. “Don’t look so miserable,” Keroline whispered, smirking at her through the mirror as Violet fastened the lace on the back of her red dress. “Tonight, you’ll watch me win everything you’ll never have.” violet didn’t respond. There was no point. They arrived at the banquet hall, the air buzzing with anticipation. The grand ballroom was a dazzling twinkling sight, filled with the pack’s elite, all eager to catch a glimpse of the Alpha Zenith Beckham. Violet trailed behind Keroline and her family in her usual plain dress, dark makeup smudged on her face as Keroline ordered. She was nothing more than her shadow. Nikita fluttered by Keroline’s side, making sure everything about her was perfect. As Violet stood quietly in the corner, watching the greetings, she felt a strange twinge in her heart. A deep, inexplicable connection that seemed to pull her toward the centre of the room. And then she saw him. Alpha Zenith Beckham stood tall, his presence commanding and intimidating as he entered the place. His black sleek hair combed back, complimenting his striking chiseled features, and his green forest eyes glowed with an intensity that took her breath away. He was every bit of the title of Alpha King, powerful and untouchable. Mesmerising! “Welcome to the Darkmoon pack, Alpha Zenith!” Alpha Arthur moved forward along with his family to greet him with respect, hiding Violet’s view. Her heart pounded in her chest as she watched him move through the crowd with grace and confidence as if he owned the place. Keroline was beside, her laughter ringing out as she tried to capture his attention But Zenith remained unaffected and walked further, His glowing eyes scanned the crowd with a predatory gaze as if he was searching something urgently. Then, Zenith’s head snapped and his eyes directly met hers. Violet gasped in fear. She instinctively stepped back. Damn! She was not supposed to grab his attention. Zenith’s eyebrows twitched as his eyes seemed to linger on her for a moment too long, a flicker of something unreadable passing across his face. Violet quickly looked away, scolding herself for her foolishness. She was openly ogling at him. Her gaze turned to Keroline momentarily who had a murderous gaze on her face. Violet swallowed hard and turned around to flee but her father, who had barely acknowledged her presence earlier, suddenly seemed determined to draw attention to her disheveled appearance. “Violet!” His voice cut through the noise, sharp and humiliating. He beckoned her, with his hand, “Come here.” Violet wet her lips, turned around and hesitantly moved toward him. Her father’s hand clamped down on her arm, dragging her forward. “This is Violet, my eldest daughter. No wolf. No future. A burden to our pack.” He sighed as if it was burdening him to introduce her. “I'm surprised she managed to grab your attention too, Alpha Zenith. But that’s what she always does, an attention seeker.” Arthur laughed as if he let out a joke. Zenith stood silent, watching her. Ever so slowly, His gaze fell on Arthur’s grip, it was unnerving, but he said nothing. Ruth growled lightly in his mind. “But my younger daughter, Keroline, she’s everything an Alpha could ever want in his mate. Beauty with brains. A powerful she-wolf!” Keroline floated forward, her practiced charm on full display. Zenith looked over at her simply and almost snorted. His voice finally broke the silence. “A wolf’s worth isn’t measured by power alone. Character matters just as much, Alpha Arthur!” His words were unexpected, and for a split second, his eyes flickered back to Violet who shifted on her feet meekly. There was something in his gaze which she couldn’t decipher. Alpha Arthur, clueless as ever, chuckled. “Of course, but Keroline is your match in every way. You’ll see, Alpha Zenith. A dance, perhaps?” Keroline’s smile widened, sure of her victory as she moved forward, flipping her red frock. Zenith’s gaze on Violet was unblinking as He coldly denied. “I’ll pass.” Keroline’s smile faltered, confusion replacing her smug grin. The silence was deafening only the sounds of soft gasps, as everyone was shocked that Alpha Zenith rejected their Alpha’s daughter for a dance. It was a huge insult. “A mate isn’t chosen for display, Alpha Arthur. If you are done showing off your daughter, I would like to meet your son who apparently has no regard for punctuality and respect!” Zenith’s stiff voice flushed them all and Alpha Arthur swallowed his insult, nodding. “Sure!” “Violet, call you brother here.” He narrowed his eyes on his elder daughter. “Right now!” Violet gulped her saliva and nodded even though she had no intention to go near that bastard but still it was her father’s order. She immediately slipped away from there towards the pack house through the back door. As she walked through the hallway, she heard weird noises from the kitchen. Violet proceeded in that way, when her eyes widened. “Ahh…yes… hard Alex baby…yes.. f**k me hard..” the woman cried out in pleasure in Alex’s arms as he pounded into her from the back. Their breathing ragged as they continued their sinful deed at the corner of the kitchen, away from the public eyes. Violet resisted to vomit, seeing that ugly horrendous scene. The smell of their sweat and c*m were unbearable. “Ah, Violet. You sneaky girl, you like the view, huh?” Alex laughed out sensing her presence and Violet gasped, stepping back. The woman laughed seeing how scared and uneasy Violet looked at that moment. “Look, that’s how I f**k, Babe. It will be your turn soon. This is the pleasure you will get, sweetheart!” Alex rasped thrusting deeper and harder making that woman scream. Violet gagged and clenched her jaws hard. Swallowing her discomfort and disgust, she informed him. “Father called you..” her voice was low but being a wolf Alex heard it. He chuckled. “Oh, forget him babe. Come join us!” He spoke in ragged breathing and pulled his hand towards her. Violet’s heart dropped seeing his gleaming lust filled eyes as Alex turned towards her but within next two seconds Violet made a run out of there in fear. Her heart leaped out as last night's event flashed in her mind. The bastard never leaves a chance to humiliate her. His laughter met her ears and she fled towards the banquet hall cursing him in mind. Suddenly her body knocked into something hard and Violet let out a low scream before falling back on the ground with the strong impact. Her bums hurt like hell. Violet abruptly looked up only to have her breath hitched in her throat. “Violet, is that your name!” Alpha Zenith’s deep husky voice aroused goosebumps all over her skin as she numbly looked at him, mouth ajar opened. Her name on his tongue sounded so raspy and smooth. He tilted his head to his left and examined her face carefully before his nose flared and a vague look crossed his features. Then he looked up behind her. And the enraged look on his face snatched the air out of her system. His green forest eyes glowed in a hot fury and Violet stiffened in fear. Her mind only ordered her to do one thing. Run!
