ACCIDENTAL RESCUE

As Sophia stepped outside the Jenkins family's gate she took a deep breath of fresh air, which was different from the stuffy air inside, she couldn't help but sneer at what 's about to become of the Jenkins family. She had slaved her years behind closed office doors working tirelessly for them, pulling in outstanding cooperation for them, which had significantly elevated their company and family status thinking she was working for her loving family. prior to her existence in their lives they had nothing but a small construction company struggling to measure up.

But due to her brilliance and intelligence, it had been so easy learning a lot of things which would have taken months or perhaps years for an ordinary person to master, she couldn't help but sigh,

" such fools" she thought...

Sophia looked around, expecting to see a car waiting for her, as arranged by her cousin, Rachel. But there was no sign of anyone. She checked her phone for what felt like the hundredth time, wondering if Rachel was running late.

After 30 minutes, Sophia tried calling Rachel, but her phone went straight to voicemail. She sent a text: "Hey Rachel, where are you? I'm waiting outside the Jenkins' place."

The response came after a while: "Sorry, Sophia, I'm stuck in traffic. Maybe you can take a taxi and meet us at the house? We'll reimburse you later."

Sophia's instincts told her something was off. She tried calling Rachel again, but this time, it didn't even ring. It was as if Rachel had deliberately avoided her.

Determined to get to the bottom of things, Sophia decided to investigate further. she opened an app and type in Rachel's number followed by a series code flooding her phone screen, she located her within few seconds and intercepted her calls. She discovered that Rachel had been investigating her by talking to the Jenkins family behind her back, and the Jenkins family not connecting her to being the daughter of such wealthy Ellis family had thought they wanted to adopt her, since they had a son only and so had convinced Rachel that Sophia was a country girl who wouldn't fit in with their sophisticated family.

Rachel had planned to stand Sophia up, hoping she would give up and return to the Jenkins family. But Sophia was not one to back down. She decided to take a taxi to her family's house, determined to ignore Rachel as long as she didn't cross her boundaries.

As the taxi drove along, Sophia casually glanced around and accidentally layed her eyes on a crowd of people standing along the bridge. She wanted to ignore the crowd but suddenly, someone shouted in a panicked voice

" Quick save him, his drowning, somebody do something" She immediately asked the driver to stop, the driver puzzled looked at her sceptically.

" am sorry sir but I promise to pay you double after this just wait a while " before the driver could respond she dashed out of the car swiftly and headed straight towards the bridge , the driver thinking she was about to escape without paying ran after her while shouting..

"miss wait a moment, pay before you jump into the river, you are my first customer for the day".... but before he could reached her, Sophia had dived straight into the River, the driver was shocked, was his first customer of the day trying to commit suicide? he wondered. The crowd of onlookers were stunned as well when Sophia dived into the river in a flash which no one was willing to enter.

She flapped her feet and swimmed quickly towards the drowning kid who must have gulped at least two cups of the salty river water. On reaching the kid, she grabbed him and started swimming towards the shorelines, but the kid was so frightened that he kept trembling and flaring thereby delaying their swift exit from the water so she had to reprimand him.

"One more move and we will both drown stay put otherwise I will smack your ass". The kid's emotions immediately became stable which she followed up by striking his neck which made him unconscious, and made it easier for her to swim towards the shore.

Immediately they got out of the river, she placed him on the floor and began performing CPR on the child, she placed him in a supine position with his head turned to the side and perform the Heimlich maneuver which is a form of artificial respiration. this caused him to throw up some amount of water, but he was still extremely weak causing him to drift in and out of consciousness. suddenly someone spoke up.......

"Let's take him to the hospital, quick make way" and then proceeded to grab the child but Sophia halted the intruder half way. " Wait, if we take him like this he wouldn't make it before we get there , just step aside I know what am doing "

She picked up the bag she had thrown aside before diving into the river and unzipped it, brought out three clean silver needles, took a bottle of medicine from her bag and popped one into the child's mouth before proceeding the acupuncture treatment, but before she could place a niddle someone held her hand.

"What?, are you trying to murder the kid? why use such needles on him, release him this instance or I will call the cops for attempted murder". Sophia looked up only to realise it was the same lady who had spoken earlier that was obstructing her work. She gave her a stern look and swat her hands away, before replying

"Why didn't you jump in and rescue him when he was drowning earlier, acting the saviour now? if you know you can't help out don't obstruct me every second counts. ".

"You"... The lady became so furious Just wait until you murder him then you will rot in jail what can a country bumpkin do" she rolled her eyes annoyingly

But Sophia couldn't be bothered with her as she proceeded to administer treatment to the child in a quick and precised movements.

At the same time a man inside a black Bentley heading towards his company received a call, the voice from the other end sounded urgent. " Boss, little young master is missing " Immediately, the temperature inside the car dropped and the air became extremely chilly, the driver shuddered. the man replied .....

"How come"? He said it so calmly that if you never knew his personality you will be fooled thinking he wasn't angry. but his assistant Mr Morphy Klein was sweating bucket's from the other end of the call even though the weather was cold. " Do I need to tell you what to do ? get the hospital's surveillance footage and search everywhere leave no Conner unsearched" He ordered.

"yes boss , right away " his assistant replied. Ethan disconnected the call and instructed, "reverse, drive straight to the hospital "

The car sped along the tar road overtaking 50% of the vehicles reaching the hospital in less than 30Minutes of the supposed 45minutes from their location. The driver hurriedly came out of the car and opened the door for him before asking " Mr blackwood what's next?" Ethan didn't respond but headed straight to the his nephews ward. upon arriving there, he questioned the attending nurses who were already panicking from the whole situation.

" How did you guys lost him" Ethan asked, before one of the nurses could respond, Ethan 's assistant Mr Klein came rushing in with a laptop on his arm looking quite anxious .

"mr blackwood, I got the footage and it shows little young master heading towards the bridge while flying a kite " the assistant was so scared that he kept praying internally that nothing bad happens to his boss nephew. Ethan's expression became so dark and oppressive that made it difficult for anyone to stare straight at him. without wasting time he took a detour to the bridge followed by his assistant, the driver and one of the doctors present.

On reaching there, they saw a crowd gathered at a Spot closed to the shorelines and someone was asking

"is he death "?. Ethan's heart skipped a bit, did something bad happened to his nephew?, thinking about the old man at home and how fond he was of Phillip his nephew, he berated himself for thinking negatively ."be positive Ethan" he mumbled to himself.

just when they finally got to the gathered crowd, there, he found his nephew lying unconscious on the ground as if they was no life left in him, and there also kneeled a girl inserting some needles into him which he believed must be her own aspect of first aid. Immediately the lady who had been obstructing Sophia's actions earlier saw Ethan she began to speak again

" There, I told you to let me take him to the hospital but you insisted on treating him yourself as if you were a certified doctor, but we have all been standing and watching for the past 20minutes and yet no progress nor movement from him"

Mr Klein recognizing who just spoke walked closer to her and called out.

" miss Rachel Ellis , what's going on?"

since he didn't understand what the lady with the needles was doing. Rachel on seeing an opportunity to impress Ethan replied coyly

"little young master Phillip fell into the river and we brought him out, instead of taking him to the hospital this bush doctor insisted on crafting her skills through him " the crowd became stunned by her words and someone mumbled " did she just say we? as if she jumped in to rescue him together with her, such a liar".

although the person's voice was low Ethan heard it and also Rachel, her face twisted in anger. "this b***h " she caused in her mind.
