Serge opens his eyes; his head is hurting and he has a sharp pain in his shoulder when he tries to move. He is confused as to where he is. He looks around and realizes that he is in a hospital. He tries to sit up abruptly but the pain in his shoulder is excruciating.
He then looks down and realizes that he is cuffed to his bed. What happened to him? He cannot remember. He lies back on the bed and closes his eyes. Slowly the memories of the past few days come back to him. He remembered that he wanted to take his own life, rather than go to prison. But somehow, here he is.
