Claudine looks at the reflection of herself in the mirror.  It is a somber pale complexion looking back at her.  She is all dressed in black, and she is wearing a vintage black hat on her head.  Today is her only son’s funeral.   He passed away nine days ago in the hospice in Paris.  She arranged for his body to be brought to Saint-Savin.   She wants to bury him on the farm.  No matter what Serge said, she is returning to her home.  She belongs on the farm, not in Saint-Savin in one of her friend’s homes.  This is not her home.  She has little left in life and the farm is one thing she holds dear.   The farm has been in their family for generations.
