It was quite unusual for the Royal family to have guests joining them on the dining table but it wasn't as if it had never happened before. Even if the rest of the family were against it, the fact that it was Caspian, the King himself, that invited someone to the table gave no room for refusal as doing so will mean that they have disrespected the King. Of course, Caspian knew that his family had no problem having an extra guest on the table, hence, his ease and relief as they dined.
